Hi, your view of Germany is flattering, but not necessarily the same as mine ;-)) And my attitude towards home is more of a kind of indifference. I don't need a place where I feel at home - your mention of people or the hard-to-describe feeling of being sheltered is more to the point. Incidentally, I can feel at home in many places - and in just as many not. But what is important in any case is travelling. And to get to know places / people yourself in order to form an opinion.
I think maybe it's due to the reason that the people who have spent their entire lives, or have done a chore for their entire lives, they find it rather boring compared to people who haven't done that. It's an opinion, it might be wrong. Like, visiting the historical places in Pakistan might be very attractive to the international tourists who have never been there, but the locals probably visited that historical fort a decade ago :)))
