SEC-S17 / W2 | What if you were the president of your country?

Welcome dear friends and welcome to my blog as I make my last particpating for the week. It is one thing becoming the president and another implementing those polices that would help improve lives of the citizenry. Let's look at some of my shared insights.

These would be my top three priorities as a president.

• Security of Life and Property
• Education and Skill Acquisition
• Health and Access to All

The Security of Lives and Properties in my present country has become something of horror. It is worrisome that many do no longer believe in the government and its capacity to ensure that they would be protected.

Though there are seemingly challenges faced by the world when the word security is mentioned but the most important thing to know is that it is local and should be treated as one that way. This should be brought to its lowest minimum which should be my topmost priority.

The issue of Education andnSkill Acquisition is one that has to be standardized given its overwhelming impact in the economy and society at large. We cannot undermine education and its impact to us directly and indirectly and hence the for being in my priorty list.

Lastly, Health and its Access to All is another area that my administration would focus on. A sound health and an access to one would be my priority.

There would be implementable steps to improve education and healthcare system as a president. Inwould be brief on each of these outlined steps.

• Full & Flexible Implementation of UBE program:

This os on program that covers the education calender of a pupil from primary 1 to Junior secondary Basic 3. Thats the 9 years of a pupil immediately the start of primary 1.

There have been limitations in the access of the oulled funds in the commission handling this program which hence undermine its productivity and goal delivery as required.

My administration should be able to remove all beareucratic process that limits its full implementation that allows free academic particpation within this level. All states should be able to deliver on equal access to education to all children.

• Subsized Tuition and other fees for Senior Secondary Schools.

This would help propagate continuity for all students or greater number of junior students who want transition to the senior secondary level. Many of our citizens below the average class are already finding it difficult with the economy and this is the best way of supporting them directly.

Ensuring that our students complete their basic education should top our agenda. Education is the bedrock of any nation and should be emphazised and enforced where possible.

For healthcare delivery, empowering the right people to work for us as a country which comes with better welfare package should be an implementable step. Why do we have braindrain in our healthcare system today where our personnels now migrate for greener pastures.

Concerns bothering on healthcare workers welfare should be completely overhaulded and should meet the minimum international standards. Welfare entitlements would be enhanced and timely felivered with strike actions.

Better equiping of the different primary healthcare centers across the country that ensures better services and subsidies as the case maybe for major health concerns.

These are mother challenges of my country today. If they are well taken care of, then this simply means we are good in many fonts.

• Corruption

This is a menance that has eaten deep into our country today. It has damaged many of our system and now becomes the new normal for our agencies. The worse here is that, no sector is left out of this. But in a bid to solve corruption, more avenues are created or they will say that corruption fights back.

Most government agencies and parastatals as been culpable a number of times, fibgers pointed at the national assembly, the military also blamed for the same acts. It is a widely practiced act in the country that I can stop but needs stronger will.

• Inadequate Funding

There are leakages in most revenue generating organs of the country. This could be pointed out as the same corruption acts above but in either case, it has limited the amount of funding required to execute most of these priorities my government would want to flag off.

There is a limit of how much borrowings that could be received externally given the alreadjng standing debts at the government's coffers. This is a huge obstacle but once the job has been taken, it would be delivered.

Tackling and eliminating all corruption prone occurrences would be my top agenda. This is the cancer worm that eats us up. Ensuring all leakages are perennially blocked with future occurence would be a program of the century.

This in its effectiveness would increase government access to funding and resources to work with. All sectors of the economy is interwoven as what affects one impacts on the other. Therefore, stopping corruption and all of its affiliates would promote more funding that would be ploughed back into stimulating the economy.
