And here I am ready for a new post!

Today I actually think I'll make the images talk a lot more heh heh 😉

As written in the last post, together with Reny we went to the wedding of two dear friends; what better occasion to talk about food?

Yes, I ate a lot, I admit it; fortunately in the days leading up to the wedding I kept myself on a budget so, in the end, I managed not to frustrate the efforts made in this week of diet.

But let's get back to us, the wedding was held in a beautiful villa which, among other things, is located near where we live so everything was also very comfortable.

The dances began with a small aperitif consumed seated on the sofas found on the lawn of the villa; as you can see it was a small "cuoppo" with a mixed fry of vegetables and fish, I ate "only 3, loool!

This mini aperitif was served while awaiting the arrival of the bride and groom who, once they reached their destination (after taking the usual photographs) opened the banquet of appetizers by uncorking a bottle!
Below you can see an overview of the appetizers, there were all types of cheeses and cured meats, sushi, fish at will both raw and cooked and many other typical Calabrian and national products, for example small parmesan or meatball morsels on polenta...

Afterwards we settled in the halls, after a good glass of white wine the "first, first" arrived, what you see in the following photo is a risotto made with carnaroli rice from Sibari, vintage champagne, notes of lemon and prawns and clams (which on the menu are called "delights of the sea" heh heh!)...

The second first course were razor clams with monkfish fillets and a Mediterranean pesto, confit aubergines and yellow datterino tomato cream...

Before the second course, to degrease they brought us a nice salad with green apple, almonds and peach...

As for the second course, I ate croaker cooked in salt and served with olive oil, Jerusalem artichoke chips and a purple potato cream; my wife instead ate meat as you can see from the photo immediately following that of my fish dish (obviously for Reny they have prepared a special menu since she is pregnant) ...

To conclude, wedding cake and large dessert buffet, I must say that here I was a little disappointed, I was expecting something better; the fruit is certainly good and the decomposed cannoli prepared on sight are excellent, unfortunately the profitterol was missing and the thing that I really didn't like were the freshly prepared babas; as a pastry chef I can launch an evaluation, first of all the babà would be better to let it cool, it turns out tastier, obviously if you decide to make it expressed you can only serve it hot but, when you prepare it, don't forget to put the sugar in the syrup lol!
Good parfaits, let's say without infamy and without praise...

We ended the evening listening to some music, while of course the young people danced eh eh!
I personally sipped a good Ron or rum known as Italian (Zacapa Centenario) accompanied by dark chocolate and a cigar which I must say is without infamy and without praise, but still very enjoyable.

It was really a wonderful day, a beautiful wedding; Reny and I had so much fun and relaxed and, I confess, that we really needed it.
Occasions like these are always bearers of joy and happiness, when a new family is born you can only celebrate!

Ed eccomi pronto per un nuovo post!

Oggi in realtà credo che farò parlare molto più le immagini eh eh 😉

Come scritto nell'ultimo post, insieme a Reny siamo stati al matrimonio di due cari amici; quale migliore occasione per parlare di food?

Si ho mangiato davvero tanto, lo ammetto; fortunatamente nei giorni precedenti al matrimonio mi sono mantenuto a stecchetto quindi, alla fine, sono riuscito a non vanificare gli sforzi fatti in questa settimana di dieta.

Veniamo però a noi, il matrimonio si è tenuto in una bellissima villa che, tra le altre cose, si trova vicino a dove abitiamo quindi il tutto è stato anche molto comodo.

Le danze si sono aperte con un piccolo aperitivo consumato seduti nei divanetti che si trovano sul prato della villa; come puoi vedere si trattava di un piccolo "cuoppo" con una frittura mista di verdure e pesce, io ne ho mangiati "solo 3, loool!

Questo mini aperitivo è stato servito in attesa dell'arrivo degli sposi che, una volta giunti a destinazione (dopo aver fatto le fotografie di rito) hanno aperto il banchetto degli antipasti stappando una bottiglia!
Qui sotto puoi vedere una carrellata degli antipasti, erano presenti tutti i tipi di formaggi e di salumi, il sushi, pesce a volontà sia crudo che cotto e tanti altri prodotti sia tipici Calabresi che nazionali, ad esempio delle piccole parmigiane o dei bocconcini di polpetta su polenta...

A seguire ci siamo accomodati in sale, dopo un buon bicchiere di vino bianco è arrivato il "primo, primo", quello che vedi nella foto seguente è un risotto fatto con riso carnaroli di Sibari, champagne millesimato, delle note di limone e dei gamberi e vongole (che nel menù sono chiamate "delizie del mare" eh eh!)...

Il secondo primo invece erano dei cannolicchi con filetti di rana pescatrice e un pesto del mediterraneo, melanzane confit e della crema di pomodoro datterino giallo...

Prima del secondo, per sgrassare ci hanno portato una bella insalata con mela verde, mandorle e pesca...

Per quel che riguarda il secondo io ho mangiato un'ombrina cotta al sale e servita con olio di oliva, chips di topinambur e una crema di patata viola; mia moglie invece ha mangiato della carne come puoi vedere dalla foto subito successiva a quella del mio piatto di pesce (ovviamente poer Reny hanno preparato un menù speciale visto che è incinta)...

Per concludere, torta nuziale e gran buffet di dolci, devo dire che qui sono rimasto un po' deluso, mi aspettavo qualcosa di meglio; sicuramente buona la frutta e ottimi i cannoli scomposti preparati a vista, mancavano purtroppo i profitterol e la cosa che davvero non mi è piaciuta sono stati i babà preparati al momento; da pasticcere posso lanciarmi in una valutazione, in primis il babà sarebbe meglio farlo raffreddare, risulta più buono, ovviamente se decidi di farlo espresso non puoi che servirlo caldo ma, quando lo prepari, non dimenticarti di mettere lo zucchero nella bagna lol!
Semifreddi buoni, diciamo senza infamia e senza lode...

Abbiamo concluso la serata ascoltando un po' di musica, mentre naturalmente i giovani ballavano eh eh!
Io personalmente ho sorseggiato un buon Ron o rum detto all'italiana (Zacapa Centenario) accompagnato da del cioccolato fondente e da un sigaro che devo dire essere senza infamia e senza lode, ma comunque molto godibile.

E' stata davvero una splendida giornata, un bellissimo matrimonio; io e Reny ci siamo divertiti tanto e ci siamo rilassati e, confesso, che ne avevamo davvero bisogno.
Le occasioni come queste poi sono sempre portatrici di gioia e felicità, quando una nuova famiglia nasce non si può che festeggiare!
