Oggi sabato 4 maggio è lo Star Wars Day 2024. L'occasione perfetta per festeggiare la mitica saga fantascientifica ideata da George Lucas e divenuta celebre in tutto il pianeta, tra eventi, iniziative e molto altro.

PERCHÉ IL 4 MAGGIO È LO STAR WARS DAY?

Ovviamente, la scelta della data non è casuale. Ma perché lo Star Wars Day è stato proclamato proprio il 4 maggio? Il motivo, alla fine, è tanto semplice quanto curioso.

È stato scelto proprio il 4 maggio come giorno per celebrare la storica saga per via dell'assonanza in inglese tra “May the Fourth”, ossia 4 maggio, e l’iconico motto Jedi “May the Force be with you”, ossia “Che la Forza sia con te”.
Per questo, già dal lontano 1977, ossia l'anno di uscita del primo capitolo della saga nei cinema di tutto il mondo, questo giorno è stato indicato come la data simbolo del franchise. Una ricorrenza che poi, negli anni, è uscita dagli Stati Uniti e ha raggiunto anche l'Asia e l'Europa. Fino a diventare un vero e proprio evento di portata mondiale, con iniziative a tema in ogni angolo del pianeta.

STAR WARS DAY 2024 ITALIA

Come sempre, anche quest'anno gli eventi in programma per lo Star Wars Day saranno tantissimi e riguarderanno tutte le principali città d'Italia. Fra tutte, la città che però ospiterà gli eventi di maggiore importanza sarà Milano.

Proprio nel capoluogo meneghino, infatti, si terrà il grande raduno di cosplayer ufficialmente riconosciuti da LucasFilm, previsto al Teatro Arcimboldi dalle 14.30 alle 18.00. Mentre sempre al Teatro Arcimboldi sarà possibile assistere alla proiezione di L'Impero colpisce ancora con la colonna sonora eseguita dal vivo dall'Orchestra Italiana del Cinema, con due repliche previste per il giorno successivo, domenica 5 maggio.

Ma non è finita qui. Alle 16.30, nel quartiere Bicocca prenderà infatti il via la grande e attesissima sfilata dei cosplayer. Uno spettacolo incredibile, oltre che l'evento ideale per passare del tempo in compagnia, circondati da tanti altri fan della saga. Per i più piccoli, invece, segnaliamo lo Star Wars Party del celebre negozio di giocattoli Fao Schwarz, dalle 16.00 alle 19.00. Una speciale sessione di Accademia Jedi organizzata dai Toy Ambassador e dal Toy Soldier di FAO Schwarz, con i bambini che vestiranno i panni di veri e propri Jedi e riceveranno dei diplomi, attraverso i quali attestare il loro rango di "cavalieri spaziali".

STAR WARS DAY 2024: LE ULTIME NOVITÀ

Per quanto riguarda gli annunci legati al mondo di Star Wars, quest'anno l'attenzione è stata senza dubbio monopolizzata dalla notizia fatta trapelare da Ubisoft riguardo Star Wars Outlaws. Il nuovo e attesissimo gioco open world del franchise che, udite udite, ha finalmente una data di uscita! Il gioco sarà infatti disponibile a partire dal 30 agosto 2024, per PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series X/S.

Se invece siete dei collezionisti interessati alle ultime novità e iniziative dei brand per celebrare Star Wars, vi interesserà sapere che:

Hasbro ha lanciato la nuova linea di spade laser e caschi dedicati ad alcuni dei personaggi più amati del franchise. Dei modelli in scala 1:1 che rappresentano prodotti di altissima qualità, oltre che delle repliche curate fin nei minimi particolari.

Funko ha presentato la nuova linea di Funko Pop! dedicata al 25° anniversario de La Minaccia Fantasma e i nuovissimi Bitty Pop! ispirati alla serie di successo The Mandalorian.

Loungefly, il brand lifestyle di Funko ha lanciato Collectiv, la linea di accessori da viaggio perfetta per portare ovunque la propria passione. La prima collezione è dedicata ai piloti degli X-wing.

Chissà quanti di noi appassionati, sono cresciuti a pane e Star Wors, sicuramente tutti conoscono la saga spaziale più amata al mondo e soprattutto tutti hanno un personaggio preferito. Io tra Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda e Han Solo faccio fatica a scegliere e allora dico Chewbacca e Voi?

WHY IS 4 MAY STAR WARS DAY?

Obviously, the choice of date is not random. But why was Star Wars Day proclaimed precisely on 4 May? The reason, in the end, is as simple as it is curious.

The 4 May was chosen as the day to celebrate the historical saga because of the assonance between "May the Fourth ", i.e. 4 May, and the iconic Jedi motto "May the Force be with you ". For this reason, as far back as 1977, the year the first chapter of the saga was released in cinemas all over the world, this day has been designated as the symbolic date of the franchise. An anniversary that then, over the years, went beyond the United States and reached Asia and Europe as well. To the point of becoming a truly global event, with themed initiatives in every corner of the planet.

STAR WARS DAY 2024 ITALY

As always, the events scheduled for Star Wars Day this year will be many and will cover all the major cities in Italy. Of all of them, however, the city that will host the most important events will be Milan.

In fact, Milan will host the great gathering of cosplayers officially recognised by LucasFilm, scheduled at the Arcimboldi Theatre from 2.30 pm to 6 pm. While always at the Arcimboldi Theatre it will be possible to attend the screening of The Empire Strikes Back with the soundtrack performed live by the Italian Cinema Orchestra, with two replicas scheduled for the following day, Sunday 5 May.

But that's not all. At 4.30 p.m., in the Bicocca district the great and eagerly awaited cosplayer parade will kick off. An incredible spectacle, as well as the ideal event to spend some time in the company of many other fans of the saga. For the little ones, on the other hand, we recommend the Star Wars Party at the famous Fao Schwarz toy shop, from 4pm to 7pm. A special Jedi Academy session organised by FAO Schwarz's Toy Ambassadors and Toy Soldier, with children dressing up as real Jedi and receiving diplomas, through which they will certify their rank as "space knights".

STAR WARS DAY 2024: THE LATEST NEWS

With regard to Star Wars-related announcements, this year's attention was undoubtedly monopolised by the news leaked by Ubisoft regarding Star Wars Outlaws. The long-awaited new open world game in the franchise finally has a release date! The game will in fact be available from 30 August 2024 at a price of €69.99, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

If, on the other hand, you are a collector interested in the latest news and brand initiatives to celebrate Star Wars, you will be interested to know that:

Hasbro has launched a new line of lightsabers and helmets dedicated to some of the franchise's best-loved characters. These 1:1 scale models are top quality products, as well as replicas with attention to detail.

Funko presented the new line of Funko Pop! dedicated to the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace and the brand new Bitty Pop! inspired by the hit series The Mandalorian.
