Mămăligă - A Traditional Romanian Dish Similar To The Italian Polenta

in Italy7 months ago (edited)

Hello there and/or salve, fellow Steemit users from the Italy community as well as dear readers from both Steemit and outside of it! For today's personal contribution here on the Italy community, I decided to write a bit about a similar dish to the Italian polenta that we have in the traditional cuisine of Romania, more specifically mămăligă.

Mămăligă is esentially Romanian polenta, at least to me. It is very similar to it in both the way it looks as well as in its texture. In my humble opinion and for me at least, It is best served warm with sour cream (the type of sour cream which we use along with mămăligă is called smântănă) and with fresh cheese. It is very tasty, healthy, nutritious, and it always puts a smile on my face, a psychological aspect for which I am very grateful to this traditional Romanian dish.

Below you can take a closer look at how the Romanian mămăligă looks like and how it is best served with sour cream and fresh cheese:

By comparison, here is a photograph of the Italian polenta served with meat and tomato sauce:

The Romanian mămăligă can also be served with meat, sarmale (stuffed vine or cabbage leaves), or ardei umpluți (stuffed peppers). [Here](File:Farshirovannyi peretz.jpg) (via Wikimedia Commons) you can take a look and see how stuffed peppers look like as prepared in the traditional Romanian cuisine (I wonder whether you have something similar in Italy, at least by region if not overall in the traditional cuisine of the entire country).

The Romanian mămăligă can also be eaten with stews or eggs (that is, best fried or poached eggs but also omelette I think) but, at the same time, is quite delicious with milk and honey as a dessert. This makes it quite a versatile traditional dish actually.

That was all for this post of mine! I truly hope you liked it, found it interesting, and well worth your time! Thank you very much for your readership, consideration, care, appreciation, and positive feedback here on this Steemit post! It means a lot to me! All the best, much respect, take care, stay safe, and have an excellent autumn along with your dear ones! Arrivederci! 🙂

Cercando sul web e dicendo che negli Stati Uniti si consuma molto cibo, vorrei provarlo; Non ricordo niente ma potete scoprire come si chiamano qui almeno per i bambini... questo è un errore...
