EXPLORING THE MEADOWS
I went for a walk across the meadows, just outside the town ...
... a man followed by a flock of sheep passed me by ...
... the Green lizard was basking in the sun ...
... on the isolated rock surrounded by tall grass ...
... and high on the rooftop of an abandoned old church, the bird was singing.
Down in the grass, the cabbage white butterflies were mating ...
... and I saw many flowers along the way ...
... there is a great biodiversity on the meadows in springtime ...
... this is a small, young nymph of some bug ...
... here you can see a pretty rare and unusual lady beetle species that spends most of its life on the top of the trees ...
... this is a crane fly ...
... a big, long - legged crane fly ...
... here you can see a mating pair of Hawthorn flies ...
... this minuscule black fly is feeding on nectar ...
... just like this small moth ... both were photographed on the Euphorbia plant ...
... I passed by the shadow of some small bush - cricket, hidden on the other side of the blade of grass ...
... and I found another pair of mating flies ...
... these are the yellow dung flies ...
... here you can see another relatively rare lady beetle species ... while most lady beetles are predatory insects that feed mainly on aphids, this one eats the mildew, a mold - related fungal growth on the upper surface of some leaves ...
... this interesting spider has a great camouflage ...
... it looks like some dry twig caught in the spider web ...
... here you can see a pair of shield bugs mating on the stony terrain of the meadow near the sea ...
... this is the fragrant Violet flower ...
... that grew on this little island made of an isolated group of Violent plants surrounded by Tree heather shrubs ...
... and now ...
... with another Cabbage white butterfly ...
... and some strange little flowers in macro view ...
... is time to end this walk. As always in posts, the photographs are my work ... and they were taken around my hometown, Medulin, on the Istra peninsula, northern Adriatic in Croatia.
