Today I share with you a unique interpretation of the Matryoshka that I drew some time ago.

In case you are not familiar with it, the Matryoshka is am emblematic Russian wooden doll. It is hollow and inside it contains a smaller copy of itself. Personally, I find it like a symbol of gens passed on in a family.

For my graphic I used the idea of Matryoshka and put some symbols typical for Bulgaria - rose, snowdrop and an ancient geometry that can be found on the traditional clothes in a form of embroydery. This is a more complex example of such a geometry. Beautiful, right?

The colors red, white and green are part of the national flag. As for the thing in yellow, it is inspired by the epic belt clasps, called "pafty". Traditionally, they were gifted from the grooms' father to the bride and were a way to show the wealth of the family.

The graphic is intended to be used as a tattoo design in old-school style, which unfortunately is not so common here. This style may look a bit weird but it is one of the most time-efficient tattoo styles, due to its solid lining and coloring.

Hope you like my artwork and that this post was interesting and educative
