The World of XPILAR - B&W PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #100 ~ King Petar Krešimir IV ( 1058 - 1074 )

Petar Krešimir IV (Latin: Petrus Cresimiri), was the king of Croatia from 1058 until his death in 1075.
He was the last great ruler of the Trpimirović dynasty. During his rule, Croatia reached its territorial peak.
He founded the city of Šibenik, which is today called "Krešimir's city".
Šibenik is mentioned for the first time for Christmas in 1066 in the donation of King Petar Kresimir IV.
Krešimir's City is named after King Petar Krešimir IV, one of the most famous Croatian rulers, who strengthened the unity of the Croatian state and who was the first ruler to confirm the title of King of Croatia and Dalmatia in modern sources.

Byzantium, which was then at war in Asia with the Turks, and in southern Italy with the Normans, surrendered to King Kresimir IV. Dalmatian towns and islands.
Petar Krešimir IV. then he did not take the title of imperial proconsul or eparch, and thus with this cunning diplomatic move he realized the century-old dream of Croatian rulers to unite Dalmatian cities and islands with the Croatian state.
Since then, ‘regnum Dalmatiae et Chroatiae’ has not been just a formal title, but has meant a single political-administrative territory.
