Peter Tosh - Legalize It (Review)

.

Now you can listen a classic reggae song from Peter Tosh; Legalize It. It was an ultimate marijuana anthem, man! I can say this is a song to ask for the legalization of the cannabis. And this song was first debut album of Peter Tosh after leaving his group; The Wailers. Legalize It was recorded at Treasure Isle and Randy’s, Kingston, Jamaica in 1975. It was relaesed in 1975 too.

Legalize It was written in response to his ongoing victimization by the Jamaican police and as a political piece pushing for the legalization of cannabis, particularly for medical use. In 1977, Tosh backed this up by saying,

We are the victims of Rasclot circumstances. Victimization, colonialism, gonna lead to bloodbath.

Tosh also said in an NME interview in 1978,

Herb will become like cigarettes.

I love listening to the song and I can imagine how this song became the strongest words for the legalization of the cannabis.

About the artist

Peter Tosh was born Winston Hubert McIntosh; 19 October 1944 was a Jamaican reggae musician. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, he was one of the core members of the band the Wailers (1963–1976), after which he established himself as a successful solo artist and a promoter of Rastafari. He was murdered in 11 September 1987 during a home invasion.

Lyrics

Legalize it - don't criticize it
Legalize it and i will advertise it

Some call it tampee
Some call it the weed
Some call it Marijuana
Some of them call it Ganja

Legalize it - don't criticize it
Legalize it and i will advertise it

Singer smoke it
And players of instruments too
Legalize it, yeah, yeah
That's the best thing you can do
Doctors smoke it
Nurses smoke it
Judges smoke it
Even the lawyers too

Legalize it - don't criticize it
Legalize it and i will advertise it

It's good for the flu
It's good for asthma
Good for tuberculosis
Even umara composis

Legalize it - don't criticize it
Legalize it and i will advertise it

Bird eat it
And they leave it
Fowls eat it
Goats love to play with it
