I wrote this past March (2022). Short and indicative of my usual poetry rhyme and meter...let me know your feedback.

Tears In Rain

What was once shimmering and shining
Time has reduced to soft-edged thought
Only the briefest of glimpses remain
Moments in time now rarely caught

Friends of old smile wanly
As they laugh at a forgotten joke
Loves of long ago whisper coyly
Some ephemeral thing lost once woke

One's senses of what once was
Dance along the edges of the mind
Sands of time scour one's life clean
Time's march senseless and blind

All souls soar to the depths of the dark
Singing a refrain of rhythm and rhyme
We shall forever be, but memories
Chaff lost to the chime of time
