The journey of these two Merseyside teams looks really funny this season, how?
Liverpool and Everton started the season quite well and at a point, we all thought Everton would make a difference due to their strong start after signing the Columbia midfielder James Rodriguez.
They impressed lots of their fans but their consistency didn't last before they were beaten by Southampton in their sixth game of the season. Before then, they played a draw against Liverpool which happened to be their first meeting in the 2020/21 season.
Everton has since then lost 8 games in the league, playing against Liverpool today won't be one of the derbies we have always seen because they are both struggling with form as a team. Injuries keep preventing Liverpool from reaching their peak form since Van Dijk got injured against Everton in their first leg back in October. Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has tried so many strategies but his yet to find a permanent solution to the team issues.
Both teams are separated by three points on the league table, Liverpool sits 6th above Everton who occupies the 7th position.
The show would be going down later this evening at Anfield and Liverpool would be looking forward to grabbing all three points against their city rival, winning the match might be an opportunity for the League Champions to break into the top four again if Westham or Chelsea fail to win their matches this weekend.
Everton could take advantage of the injuries issues tearing Liverpool apart and winning the match would help them keep up with the Uefa spot race but the match is likely to end in a draw as it happened in the first leg.
