Learning The Features of a Semi-Truck!

in #homeschool7 years ago (edited)

One thing @Wolf-Dawg loves is trucks, especially Semi-trucks. When he gets older he wants to be a Semi-truck driver just like his Pa. Today we looked at the different features of a Semi-truck, specifically a Freightliner.

Semi-trucks are really big , as you can see his feet can't touch the floor when sitting in the seat!

Semi-trucks have radios to talk to other people. They are called CB Radios. He likes to say "Breaker Breaker 19" when talking to other semi-truck drivers!

Some Semi-trucks have sleepers with beds. This is so Semi-truck drivers can sleep in their trucks when they are away from home. This truck has a top and a bottom bed. His Pa does not use them anymore, because he is home every night.

Semi-Trucks have many buttons. The yellow button is a parking brake. The red button is to supply air to the semi trailer, so the air brakes work.

This is the back of the Semi-truck. These are the air lines to hook to the trailer for the brakes. There are three air lines. The red airline is for the trailer emergency brakes.

This is called a fifth-wheel. This is used to connect the trailer to the Semi-truck. @wolf-dawg is holding onto the latch to engage and disengage the lock on the fifth-wheel.

Semi-trucks use a fuel called diesel. They have really big fuel tanks. There are two of them. Each tank on this truck holds 150 gallons of diesel fuel!

This is the end of the Semi-truck adventure. Thank you for joining us!

Great quality in photography I love them

@wolf-dawg

@wolfdawg looks like a natural.

He sure does love semi's. I've never met a kid who thinks so much about what he wants to be when he grows up. He talks all the time of how he can manage being both a truck driver and farmer. He makes me very proud of him.

He is a confident and ambitious young man. That stems from a good home which I know he has.

Semi trucks are neat! My dad drove one for a few years and we got to ride in it a few times. The horns sure are loud on them!

Frankie, in theory, gets to ride in a semi a few times a month!-) I meant to shoot a video of him doing the horn but that though slipped my mind. I am sure those are some great memories of riding in the semi!
