The crown-tipped coral mushroom are a delight to find in the forest. They almost give one the feeling of being underwater if you get close enough to them. And, best of all they are a choice edible.

They grow on dead logs, and never from the ground. If you find them on the ground, you have NOT found the edible crown-tipped coral mushroom, you have found a look-alike. And, that is the problem with coral mushrooms- there are poisonous varieties.

This is what I would call an 'expert mushroom hunter' variety to forage.

A few tips: If you smell something like formaldehyde, stay away. If the mushroom is slimy in any way, stay away.

Be careful out there, but get out there and hunt the wild fungus. Till next time....

Nature never ceases to amaze with the beauty of creation.

You said it. It amazes me how much time I spend behind monitors. But, I manage to make time to get out into nature every day. Balance is key....
