🥑 Avocado and Bonsai 🌱

Good Morning from me in England!

It's a beautiful June 1st, and what better way to enjoy the day than to get out into the garden for a walkabout.

Here's a few pics from this morning.

Ash Bonsai - collected the raw material from a garden waste heap in the woods a few years ago

A few tress in training - Chinese Elm, Black Currant, Ash and Beech

I've successfully grown some avocado's from the pit!

Firstly, insert 3 cocktail sticks into the pit, place on top of a glass with the fat end in the water, this is where the roots will grow from. Then just make sure it is topped up.
It took about 5 to 6 weeks to sprout roots.

You can also just plant the pit in compost and wait for 3 moths or so.
I prefer the glass method, especially here in England. It's also really exciting to see the growing process in the glass!

Avocado one of my favorite fruits especially as juice :D

Ha! Worthy excuse to use the avocado emoji!

I've got a few ash tree seeds sprouting this year. Really excited about them. Ash and Maple make so many seeds every year.

Hope your avocado tree does well. I know they can be tricky to keep alive after a couple years. Looks like you know what you have great soil and pruning experience by the looks of your other healthy trees.

What a cute little one! Brilliant!!

Cheers mate!
It's really fun!

Even here in Ga USA, I don't know of anyone who has grown an Avocado
To maturity enough to get fruit. Many have germinated and got very
Attractive plants, but I don't know anyone who (outside of a Greenhouse)
could keep one long enough to get fruit. Good Luck with that
@darrenclaxton. Post upvoted.

The Bonzai trees are really cool, do you literally take a tree seed and then just prune it carefully as it sprouts and grows to keep it small.

Neat treat with the Avocado, will it ever produce fruit?

I collected this tree from the woods.
It was among a pile of someone's garden waste.
Planting a tree seed is a really long process to get anywhere near the thickness of a trunk like this.
It is best to go out into the woods or forest, and look for stunted growth trees.
Always get permission before digging anything up too.
The avocado will just be an attractive plant as our summers here are too short to produce fruit.
