Installed New Motion Sensor Floodlights

in #homesteading5 years ago

Our new home came with a crappy entry light. So we upgraded it to this really nice and good looking motion sensor flood light setup.

This is the original light:

Like I said crappy lol…

We are not electricians so don’t take our words as expert advice or anything. We got directions from a guy at Lowes hardware and read the manual that came with the light. Though it is fairly simple and common sense in my opinion.

If you want to see the video of the install and unboxing review of the floodlights then visit FixedByDoc.com for the full blog.

But here are a few pics of the install:

We're facing the same issue in our house.
I fricking HATE motion sensors.
I want 'dusk to dawn"
We're gonna make it happen.

Almost all the lights come with motion and light sensors but are switch select-able to choose the dusk to dawn operation that you want.

this one does most everything.

this does both dusk to dawn then gets brighter with motion sensing or can set to either or. or just use light switch.

Thanks for the motion sense led flood light install article. I need to do the same as you have done here. I bought a motion flood light to install 3 years ago but it is around here somewhere as I never installed it. It was replacing a halogen tube motion light that only lasted a few years long ago. The end terminals burn off on the halogen tubes cause the insane high heat. LED is the way to go now like the one you have. I will get one soon.

I like this one so far. It isn't blinding.

We bought a new LED motion floodlight yesterday but haven't installed it yet. The old halogen one is above the garage door under the eave. I just want more light for where cars and bikes get worked on. We have portable lights but don't get used much as too lazy to get them out at the time when you are in a hurry to get done and it gets dark. The light on with motion is also extra security for driveway vehicles. I remember in the 90s when motion lights 1st came out that a car going up my street would set off many lights all the way up the street on both sides, lol.

we are enjoying ours :)

Doc, you should install one of these for the renter too. The white color matches the siding and looks nice. Save all receipts for write offs (even your stuff). As resident property manager, you deserve a salary for hours expended each week or month. Many, many write offs being a land lord.

addie's dad owns a tax company. we are slowly upgrading both sides. the rental side needed door knobs so they got those first. we needed lights. eventually we intend to get this same floodlight on their side too and one for each back yard. the backyard ones may need an electrician to come install as no power outlets.
