I keep an inventory of what foods we have on hand and how much I've put away of different foods. So I have a real good idea of how much of things I need for a year. So we spend most of the year putting food by, enough for the coming year.
It really does seem that we are always preparing for winter! An inventory is a great way to be in full control of your food utilization. Very good point!
