Creating A Nature Trail

It’s been a busy day today. I usually relax and do next to nothing on my days off, but today was different. Kind of a breeze in the air, so after checking over my old trusty lawnmower. It was time to take a run at starting on my wooded trails.

We started clearing our ten acres a year before the house went up. There are probably a good five acres left to clear. That’s not what I want to do. Who doesn’t like a walk through the woods? It’s a bigger job than I bargained for. The pictures will tell the story. In the winter it will be a little easier to work on, it may take renting or hiring a bobcat operator. My skill set is a bit rusty, not having driven a tractor or bobcat in 30 years.

The woods are dark right now, covered with a heavy growth of 4 to 6 inch caliper trees of different varieties. Seeing the sun shine onto the ground, would be so much more welcoming.

Meanwhile, I am hacking my way through the wild grapevines, and overgrowth. The previous tenants left their trash, car parts, spillage and plenty of plastic crap. I have heard bad things about them, and if what they left behind is proof then count me as a believer. Good riddance, now to smudge the place with light and happiness.

howdy there @mother2chicks! hey your property looks alot like parts of ours when we first got here, spent months cleaning tons of junk, debris, cans, bottles, just stuff dumped everywhere out in the trees.
I guess they didn't want to bother taking it to the curb or to the county dump. Now I can see the challenge you face on your property!
But the finished project is going to be wonderful!

That was a healing walk you took us on :)

Wow this is beautiful, I love the pictures @mother2chicks

I have a path that has grown over it was nice to have. I have shortened my path to a managable length. Winter is easier work. I marked trees and other things growing that I enjoy in spring and summer then work around marked growth in the fall and winter.

Good luck it looks great now.

Love

What an adventure! Your photos are beautiful. The process is part of the destination isn't it? I don't think we always realize that until look back at things. Thanks for the peek into your "woods in process".

Oh yes, the process is probably more important than the final product. I do enjoy a good project. Thank you for stopping by. 🐓🐓
