Things That Affect Food Security

Based on the results of a study, it can be seen that there are three things that affect food security, including income levels, rice prices and knowledge of nutrition by housewives. In addition to hunger, the impact of food insecurity is as follows:

• Education level decreased
• Food quality is declining
• Increased malnutrition
• Low utilization of physical potential
• Social jealousy

There are several things we must do to achieve food security (staple food, especially rice)

• stable amount of food supply.
• The conversion of agricultural land is minimized.
• genetic engineering of plants to produce varieties that are resistant to pests and seasonal changes
• exporting processed foodstuffs
• diversify food ingredients
• increase imports of basic goods
• cultivating large-scale farms
• using traditional processing methods

The purpose of the Food Security efforts above is the realization of community food sovereignty through availability (food production and reserves), affordability, food consumption and nutrition as well as food security based on raw materials, resources and local wisdom.
