Hydroponic tomato plants - fully adjusted roots vs newly transplanted roots

You can see in the first pic the small roots branching off of the main ones while the second pic shows a more straight single hair roots. The first pic is a plant that was transplanted 5 days ago and has adjusted to the lack of soil while the second pic shows a plant that was transplanted from soil into hydro only 2 days ago.
The first few days were very stressful on the first transplant, the leaves and branches became very wilted and I didn’t see any growth from the roots for the first few days. 5 days later and the roots are starting to make changes.
