Often times we hear about companies especially smartphone manufacturers stealing consumer data without the consent of the consumer. Illegal data collecting doesn’t end there as some websites have plugins that continually phish user's data, smartphone applications are not exempted as it’s a common practice with many applications especially social media applications as they continually collect consumer private data, from their browser history, call and messaging history, location tracking and general usage pattern.

All these are done without the approval or at least without the knowledge of the consumer and these data brokers sell consumers personal data to companies worldwide thereby violating consumers' data privacy without compensating consumers.

In the wake of all these concerns, Opiria-Platform is creating a global marketplace for the secure and transparent buying and selling of personal data using the Blockchain technology and principle of choice to make sure that consumers who wish to broker their personal data will do so in a secure, lawful, fair and transparent way at the same time having full control over their provided data, protecting the consumers anonymity in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Consumers will have to create a profile on the Opiria-Platform and choose what type of their personal data they are willing to disclose/share, these data will be collected through the Opiria web plugin, through the Opiria smartphone app on Android and iOS, wearables and other smart devices or through online survey. The more information a user is willing to disclose, the more valuable their profile becomes. Any consumer that accept this request will trigger what is known as smart contract between the consumer and the company. Consumers on the Opiria-Platform can create a passive income stream by monetising their disclosed data when they accept to share it with companies and in return get paid with PDATA Token. The PDATA Token is the currency that expresses value of personal data and enables it’s trading using smart contract on the Blockchain. After the company has paid this token, the company will then receive the requested personal data.
