INSPIRATION comes full circle! IFC S2R6

Business has been slowing down at the tax office where we are working a seasonal work camping gig in Santa Fe, NM so I decide to take my laptop in to work and focus on our next blog post for our site Trippin Brehenys. I come up with the idea to do a post about the top reasons to start full-time traveling. I pull up a blank document and quickly come up with a total of 4 reasons and jot them down but then writers' block rears its ugly head and now I’m drawing a blank. I set the task aside in hopes that my subconscious will fill in the gaps over the next few days.

Oh shit, that's right! Today is the day that the new post comes out from the IFC, my favorite contest here on Steemit. I log in and check this weeks post IFC Season 2, Round 6. Oh shit, the post came out yesterday (it's Saturday's, not Sunday's). I read through the post and think to myself "Oh shit, what am I supposed to write about in regards inspiration?" Sigh, oh well, I'll just set this thought aside and see what my subconscious mind can come up with.

Then, BOOM! It hits me. My subconscious mind just filled in the gap. I have just been inspired by @apolymask and his round 6 post to finish my blog post AND have immediately come up with a 5th reason to start full time traveling, to INSPIRE others.

Well, that brings us to present day and here I sit finishing up my round 6 entry. The best news is that all of this inspiration has allowed me to buckle down and finish my post.

And so, without further ado and with much thanks to @apolymask and his post for round 6, I present to you our top 10 Reasons Why You Should Start Full-Time Traveling, TODAY!

Top 10 Reasons You Should Start Full-Time Traveling Today!

For so many of us, it's easy to get caught up in the day to day grind. We often end up taking so many of the beautiful things around us for granted. Most of us want to travel, to see the world or even see and do more in our own back yards. Yet we find ourselves waking up each day and doing the same things over and over again.

In no particular order, here are our top 10 reasons why you should start full-time traveling TODAY!

1. Experience an Unending Sense of Adventure:
Traveling full time allows you to experience new things every day. Whether hiking through rugged terrain, kicking your feet up in some exotic locale or taking a wrong turn on the highway the sense of adventure that you feel every day is one of our top reasons to take the full-time plunge. When we first started out living and working from our RV we drove from Florida to Wyoming for our first ever workamping adventure in Yellowstone National Park. On the way, we stopped and visited places like the Badlands National Monument, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Memorial. Once we got to Yellowstone and realized that we would be living and working there the entire summer we knew we had scored the adventure of a lifetime.

2. Broaden Your Horizons:
From learning new and exciting things to picking up new skills, there is no better way to broaden your horizons than full time traveling. When we first started talking about minimizing and packing up all of our belongings our son Nick The Travel Kid took a huge interest in geography. Nine months later and his interest in geography has grown into a passion.With each new place we visit, we learn exciting new things. From the history of our country to how landscapes were formed and everything in between. Oh, sure you can go online and learn about sculptor Gutzon Borglum and his involvement in creating Mount Rushmore but to see it in person makes the history come alive.

3. Learn new skills:
Since we started full-timing back in May of 2018 we have picked up new skills and done things we never imagined we would do. In Culbertson MT we ran a huge machine at a sugar beet piling site and are currently working in Santa Fe, New Mexico preparing personal tax returns. We are all also slowly learning to speak Spanish to get ready for future trips to Spanish speaking countries.

4. Meet new people and learn about different cultures:
Back in 2016, we took a ten day trip to Belize. We saw some incredible sights and met some very interesting people. This trip to Belize was really the beginning of our full-time adventure even though we didn't officially move out of our home until March of 2018. The primary language spoken in Belize is English and their currency is the U.S. dollar.
Little did we know until after we arrived at and started working in Yellowstone National Park that they hire many young people from all over the world through the J-1 Visa. We met and built some incredible friendships with people from all over the globe including here in the States.

5. Test your limits:
Let's be completely honest here; selling off a majority of your stuff, moving out of your home and striking out into the great unknown is not easy. It takes courage and commitment to step outside of your comfort zone. Making the decision to start full-time traveling isn't like deciding to change shampoo brands. You are making a major life change and there will be challenges along the way. The most important thing to remember here is that the rewards FAR outweigh the challenges.
Our son Nick the Travel Kid who is not a huge fan of heights tested his limits on a recent hike at the Bandelier National Monument by climbing series of ladders to the Alcove House. The Alcove House was once home to a small group of Ancestral Pueblo people.

6. Learn history:
There is no better way to learn the history of a place than fully immersing yourself into the actual environment itself. From Yellowstone National Park to Mount Rushmore to Bandelier National Monument and many more wonderous and exciting places, the history that we have learned has been nothing short of amazing. Unlike tuning in to The History Channel, the ability to touch, hear and see these places in person brings the history to life.

7. Strengthen family bonds:
Since embarking on our journey we have developed a stronger bond as a family. We spend more time together and whether working or playing, we do things as a team. Family hikes are a regular occurrence and our son Nick the Travel Kid regularly edits our videos and blog posts.

8. Experience freedom:
Simply put when you live in an RV you go where you want to go and if you don't like where you are then you go somewhere else. Really, it's that simple. We are free to "get up and move about the cabin" anytime, anywhere.

9. Simplify your life:
While we wouldn't exactly call ourselves minimalists we have definitely come to realize that more "stuff" isn't what makes us happy. This wasn't easy at first. Several months before we went full-time we went through our home and got rid of everything that we didn't want and then repeated the process a few weeks later and got rid of things that we didn't NEED. As it turns out we ended up doing this a couple of more times because as we simplified we found that we needed less. This was also a great way for us to not only make a little extra money by selling things we didn't want and/or need but we were also able to donate many things to others as well.

10. Inspire others:
We did not make the decision to move out of our home and into a travel trailer while traveling across the country lightly. At least a years worth of research and several months of planning were a precursor to the beginning of our big adventure. A big part of that research was reading blog posts and articles from other full-time travelers as well as watching a ton of Youtube videos. We learned a few things and were able to avoid some of the pitfalls that other full-time travelers experienced. Most importantly, by following the adventures and in some cases, misadventures of these people, nay, these explorers we were INSPIRED to strike out on our own and create our very own adventure. We hope to inspire your journeys.
