The Information Finding Championship

The Information Finding Championship (IFC) is a Steemit community contest that was created by the organizations captain @apolymask. Each week participants are given a task or quest, to search for information and create a post on a topic of our captains choosing. Once the topic of the week is announced, participants are given roughly about a week to create a post on the subject which will be evaluated by a panel of judges. Topics include things like "the universe" or "laughter" for instance and participants are given the freedom to interpret the topic however they choose.

The contest is already underway but its not too late to join. We have only just started. There are plenty of rounds to go and anyone who receives even one vote from the judges in any given round, will automatically be entered into the finals.

To join, simply start following @ifc and/or @apolymask and wait for the next quest posting. For more information on the contest feel free to click the links below:

Why Join?

There are many reasons to join the contest but one of the main reasons for me is the community. Members tend to be very supportive of one another - often voting for one anothers posts, commenting on them or leaving them feedback. New users may even gain some followers simply because they are now a part of a community.

For me personally, I find it helpful sometimes to be prompted on a topic to write about. Not only does it help with writers block, but it also sparks some creativity within me. As an added bonus, having to research or think about a certain topic often results in me learning something new along the way.

Lastly, there are prizes and awards! The overall winner of the contest will receive a hefty reward of 100 STEEM along with a crystal trophy and a picture of themselves drawn by a local Steemit community artist. The participant who ends in second place will receive 25 STEEM and third place will receive 10 STEEM. As an added bonus winners of each round will receive a small reward payout as well.

So if you enjoy contests, prizes and engaging with other community members come join the Information Finding Championship. We would all be happy to have you along. Feel free to ask questions if anything is unclear. I have only been a part of the IFC for a short period of time so I myself am still learning as well.

Great job with your entry leaky20! I think you summarized everything pretty well and eloquently and if I was someone who had never heard of the IFC before I think I would wanna give it a try after reading what you had to say! :)

The Information Finding Championship (IFC) is a Steemit community contest that was created by the organizations captain @apolymask.

I sort of blush that anyone thinks of me as a captain or a leader and while I appreciate the sentiments, I'm sorta just another person in the community, even if I did come up with the idea and donate the majority of steem and spend the most time on it. I'd like to think I'm just another one of you! :)

There are many reasons to join the contest but one of the main reasons for me is the community. Members tend to be very supportive of one another

I think this is one of the main perks and most positive aspects of the whole thing! When we started originally I had no idea of what kind of community would emerge, and.. I was beyond pleasantly surprised with the group of amazing people who formed.. It's been one of the greatest highlights for sure. I'd say a majority of the people involved are good people who genuinely care and who want to help others, and for me.. I don't see that very often in the world unfortunately! So to a degree, it's helped given me back a lot of hope in humanity.. To see so many people who actually care and who wanna be there for each other!

For me personally, I find it helpful sometimes to be prompted on a topic to write about. Not only does it help with writers block, but it also sparks some creativity within me

That's cool to hear! And I've heard similar from others.. A few people last season even said they would have stopped posting on steem probably if it wasn't for our contest giving them ideas on what to post about.
And I tend to struggle with this sometimes too myself when it comes to posting on social media.. I can sit there for quite a while struggling to figure out what to try to talk about.. So I can see how it would be nice to have some extra direction and ideas to help spark the way!

So if you enjoy contests, prizes and engaging with other community members come join the Information Finding Championship. We would all be happy to have you along.

Word! We are happy to see new faces and old faces and it's been a pleasure having you in our group too! You're a super talented writer and that zombie short story of yours really demonstrated that to me! That one really stuck out in my mind and I'm honored to have you play in our game when you have the time! :D

Excellent entry man! Hopefully we get at least one player from it though even if not it's always awesome just to read what the members of the community think. Thanks for entering another round and I look forward to seeing where this adventure goes with you and everyone else. :)

Regarding the captain/leader comment. I totally get you're humble and modest sentiment of being just another community member. I think the term fits in with the theme or story line of the IFC though as well (I.e. traveling in space on a star ship). I guess I didn't actually mention any of that in my post though. Lol. I really tried to keep the message as short and to the point as possible to make it as accessible as possible. Hopefully we get some more people to join though. It's been fun for me!

Understood! And as much as I try to be just a regular member of the community many look at me as a sort of leader and that's understandable as I did come up with the idea and I mostly run the contest with a little help from others and I'm the one donating the most steem and all that, so I get it.. I just want to try to make everyone feel equal and like we all have an equal voice to the best of my ability. Also I agree! Hopefully we do and it looks like we have got a few more players. :) So even though we only had.. 4 entries that round I think.. It looks like we've got 3 or more players out of it. That's good news to me! I'm also going to keep reaching out to new steemians and hopefully in time we'll get even more players. As fun as it is with only just a few players, I think it might be even more fun with a larger amount! The more the merrier? Hopefully anyways. :) Cheers bud! oh and.. Glad to hear it's been fun for you! That means a lot to me and comments like that make me feel all the hard work I put into this are worth it.. If even just one person has fun or learns something new.. I think that's awesome!

I think that your goal of equality is admirable and I do hope that you feel that the project/contest is worth it because it does seem like everyone involved/participating is having fun and enjoying it.
Lastly, Good luck in your quest to find more players!

Word buddy. :) Thanks for the good luck! I think we got a couple more players and.. It's a longterm dream, even if it's a bit slow now I think in time it will pick up.. Especially if/when the crypto market starts picking up and stem is up over 50 cents again so.. Who knows, maybe it'll be sooner rather than later. :D I guess time will tell. I love the community and the idea though and will do my best to keep it going even if it's a small group of people and even if I don't have much to give in prizes. I'm not going anywhere unless something tragic happens and I can't keep up with it anymore.
