In the Term of cost this election going to be biggest costliest election..previous election cost was 5 Billion Dollar. this time it will be 40% hike in cost. on average voter it will cost $8 per voter.
If government is spending so much of money, it is individual responsibility to use voting power, recognized the effort of election commission of India and provide a stable government.
I'd like to take back my $8 instead of voting, hehehe!
Jokes apart, it's a very costly affair. Heard some talks of EOS based voting system in coming US elections. May be, if successful, that can save on cost.
In 1980, elections across the country were spread over only 4 days. I guess, shorter time duration to complete the process involve lower security cost and could help in cost reduction.
