DHS Compiles a List of Journalists

As the saying goes, "This revolution will not be televised". As predicted, here we are in 2018 with a rather nice problem. And the problem is there are so many citizen journalists and alternative voices in the media on-line we have never been more well informed. Sadly, at the same time free-speech advocates have had to step up to the plate and make sure we do not lose our First Amendment Rights here in the United States. And when we hear of a list of journalists being compiled by the Department of Homeland Security every freedom loving fiber in your body begins to shiver.

The sarcastic tone from DHS Press Secreary Tyler Houlton paints himself into a corner of judging people who find a huge list to be overstepping the grounds of government.

Twitter lit up after the news and people have been clamoring against the list of journalists. They are using classical Constitutionalism to defend their position. And I can understand their concern. It is because such a list, including political affiliation can Easily be abused.

The backlash and public outcry against Tyler Houlton's defending the DHS move are interesting. And some of the tweets are almost excuses as why its OK to have more surveillance. How would you feel if you found out you were on a DHS list of bloggers?
