Using Google Maps to Call Out Professional Athletes

Recently a several professional athletes have made the news by refusing to stand during the American National Anthem. And the Superbowl champion Eagles, even refused to show up at the traditional visit with a sitting President of the United States. And of course all this started when Colin Kaepernick decided to protest during the pregame ceremonies by kneeling, instead of standing, during the National Anthem.

In the information age, professional athletes that do not attempt to improve the conditions in neighborhoods they are from can have the public see the street views of their home towns. Likewise, the clean streets of the nice neighborhoods where their millions offered them escape from the depressed areas can also been seen. And I recommend any Information Warrior to use this tool as a way to call out anyone with millions who does nothing to change environments that allow black on black crime and the drug trade to fester.

But when you look at the neighborhoods these athletes grew up in and compare them to where the wrongful shootings of African-Americans by police have happened, a large disparity emerges.

Haymarket is considered the worst neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And this is where Kaepernick was born and later adopted by a well-to-do family. The question of course is that beyond protesting against violence by police against African-Americans, what has he done to positively engage the worst places where he was born? Knowing he received an 80 million dollar contract to play football, is it honestly conceivable that his only choice as a human being was to kneel during a tradition that in so doing offended 1000s of Veterans and American fans alike?

In contrast, the clean and neat streets of a random neighborhood in Turlock, California, where Kaepernick grew up. The affluent neighborhood reeks of the cognitive dissonance Kaepernick displays of protesting something while at the same time doing nothing about it. Did his charmed life in California as a star athlete mutate his conscious so much he actually thinks he is doing the right thing?

Or, is the rumor that all this started when he fell in love with a hippy woman in San Fransisco who would not give him the time of day because she hated everything about the NFL. And the rumored response was to foist some concocted protest against "the man" to win her heart. And from there, it just went out of control. When you consider his affluent upbringing and contrast it with the fact he has not publicly made avenues into depressed neighborhoods to invest and bring hope, the selfishness of the rumored intent starts to make sense.
