Is our Current Government Structure Outdated?

Before you think am crazy try and read my perspective first to have an understanding of where I am coming from. The current system of democracy which replaced the Monarchial Systems of old was made popular by the massive development strides witnessed by the US.

Now this system proved superior in more ways than one to monarchies with a more widespread distribution of wealth and respect for individual rights, hence it was looked at by some as a perfect system worthy of emulation.

The US, being the World’s major superpower for a while now has used it s influence to bring the Democratic philosophy to other nations, winning the appeal of the people with their own success. However, since the mass adoption of a democratic system we’re starting to see the fallouts of the system itself especially in the medium and long term.

It appears one has replaced individual Dictatorships with systemic ones as the state seeks to expand its control over the liberty of individuals. Increasingly democratic systems are witnessing systems of suppression and control enforced by the same agencies that were supposedly created for their benefit. The funny thing is that all this is done under the ‘we know what’s best for you ploy’ that restricts individual rights to choices and freedoms.

No matter who is in power, the status quo remains, and the system doesn’t Change. What’s more, the older a system is in place the more difficult it becomes to scrutinize it for loopholes. This type of systemic surpression that has evolved as a medium term effect of democracy is certain to get worse in the long run.

I will not say democracy is outdated, as the core principles of individuals right to choose their leaders respect the freedoms of individuals and creates a systemic flow in some cases. However, it is very necessary to prevent that flow from becoming a hindrance by a modification of things to better protect the freedom of all, before it is too late.
