While the article makes it clear that Tump's tariffs are having far less of an impact on returning American manufacturing jobs to our desperately-insufficient manufacturing sector than he trumpets, there are other positive impacts from all the China rhetoric and minor broadsides.

But already, spurred by tariffs and trade tensions, global companies are beginning to shift their supply chains away from China, just as some Trump administration officials had wanted.

The move, known as decoupling, is a major goal of those who believe the world has grown far too dependent on China as a manufacturing giant. As Beijing builds up its military and extends its geopolitical influence, some officials fear that America’s dependence on Chinese factories makes it strategically vulnerable."

Some officials? Who are these idiot "officials" who don't think that? I'd love to participate in their complete and immediate de-officialating. "De-coupling" of course, admits (backhandedly) that Communist China and our TREASONOUS and ALSO COMMUNIST (but secretly so) CEO class has been involved in a TOTAL TREASONOUS symbiotic relationship with the thugs of Peking and Shanghai for decades.

Still, this "de-coupling" can not happen fast enough for my liking, and I am reserving, WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE, my hopes that any "trade deal" with the ChiComs can ever do much to seriously reverse that horribly debilitating FREE TRAITOR milieu.

"Decoupling efforts appear to be in their early stages. A broad survey by UBS of chief financial officers at export-oriented manufacturers in China late last year found that a third had moved at least some production out of China in 2018. Another third intended to do so this year. The typical company was moving the production for about 30 percent of its exports, UBS found. Companies now want to depend less on one place, which means looking for an alternative to China, Bill Winters, the chief executive of Standard Chartered Bank, said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this year.

'People who are concerned at the prospect of greater tariffs on Chinese exports, for example, are looking to move export facilities from China to other countries, including Chinese companies,'...Countries seeking to displace China have begun pointing out that exports from their countries are less likely to face tariffs."

So a third of those interviewed have a goal of removing less than a third of their manufacturing requirements out of China. Not exactly a sea change on how these corporate bigwigs are doing business, and of course, ZERO indication there is any change in their world view to permit for any patriotic sentiments or loyalty to their own countries....i.e. there doesn't appear to be ANY real threat to the continued globalization of the planet here, despite all the MAGA propaganda.

We shall see. At least, if nothing else, the Trump Administration has gotten some Americans to think about the importance of being able to make at least our own tanks and attack helicopters, if not our toys, toothbrushes and smart p[hones.

That's a small step in the right direction, albeit a very small one.
