RE: Israel - tweets - how NOT to make friends & not influence people!

in #informationwar6 years ago

It is a complicated subject, and I certainly have no definitive solution. But, until the Palestinians agree that Israel is a country that has a right to exist as a Jewish state, I can't see a solution.

As far as the right of return, that would be demographic suicide for Israel, as Palestinian birth rates are higher.

The history is so complicated there. If you go back to the Roman era, that was Israel, and it was a Jewish homeland. Then after destruction of the Temple, it became Christian. Then after the Muslim invasions, it became Muslim. Now, it is Jewish again.

Both sides have to compromise. I think Israel needs to give up all West Bank settlements. I think the Palestinians have to seriously commit to peace.

The reason there is a blockade on Gaza is that every time the blockade was lifted, weapons flowed in and violence surged. If the Palestinians would commit to peaceful agreement it would be lifted.

There is no easy solution, until both sides are serious about compromise.

I fully agree, Israel should not be shooting unarmed protesters. But, if the Palestinians want to protest peacefully, they should leave the rocks and slings and firebombs at home.

Anyway, just my view, not trying to disagree or contradict. A messy subject, I hope someday it will all end peacefully. It would be great to see a peaceful Israel and a peaceful Palestine living side by side in respect, trading and doing business together.

Hope your posts and suggestions spur people to seek peaceful solutions.

Well this is the thing is it not, that via the Balfour agreement the Jewish gained the right to return over 2000 years later due to facts written in the antiquated book the bible, that we know for "fact" was written by Jewish people yes?
And now you are suggesting the Palestinians should not be be granted the same rights a mere 70 years later, due to your perceived notion on birth rates? That I find very hard to swallow indeed, as I am pro people also and of neither religion concerned, I feel I can consider myself impartial as such, and would say that if one has the right of return then the other does also, regardless of birth rates.

To get a balance in this situation requires all parties to be treated equally, and due to the fact that Israel has broken international law constantly & Israel refuses to compromise regards the barricading in of 1.7 million people into Gaza, plus also Israeli soldiers refusing entry or exit to most people from said location, this situation can never end.

All good points and valid. Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
