The government of the United States reported that this week it prohibited 340 Venezuelans from entering the US territory, including 107 diplomats linked to President Nicolás Maduro, and their relatives.

The United States, revoked the visas of 340 other friends of the president, and did not rule out adding more to the list, the State Department said on Thursday.

The latest revocations, which include the visas of 107 ex-diplomats and their families, have raised the total to more than 600 since the end of 2018, said the spokesman of the US diplomacy, Robert Palladino.

"Since Monday we revoked 340 visas and the revocation of additional visas is under consideration," he said at a press conference.

The delegate of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for the Venezuelan crisis, ElliotAbrams, had warned on Tuesday that "revocations of additional visas" would be issued against people close to Maduro.

The United States applies sanctions to Venezuelan officials and former officials for corruption, drug trafficking and human rights abuses since 2015, when it declared Venezuela "a threat to national security."

But since August of 2017, he has intensified economic and diplomatic measures against Venezuelan authorities, including Maduro and other senior officials.
