Inktober Day 5: Chicken

in #inktober6 years ago

Chicken Fight!!!!

My original idea was to draw someone afraid of heights with another person lightheartedly laughing at their phobia but that got super complicated in my mind. I knew I couldn’t finish the image on a single page so my second idea were two boys playing chicken fight. Have you played chicken fight in the pool before? I have and I was always thrown into the water. I have no upper body strength. 😆

The progress...

All my drawings are done digitally on the Procreate App using the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil.

I drawing began by sketching blocky shapes to map out the bodies. It’s rare for me draw full bodies. It’s something I’m practicing so I’ve already determined that this drawing isn’t perfect, but that’s okay.

When I got to inking, I started with the upper half the boys. I knew that if I didn’t get the action pose right then it would look off.

Next I inked in the swim shorts and the parents/older siblings holding the boys.

I drew in water ripples to tie everything together.

For the first time ever I’m experimenting with more black inks. Hopefully I’ll get as good as @donnadavisart and @kommienezuspadt! Blocking out areas with black is very intimidating for me but I’m sure I’ll get better with practice. I’ll force myself to get better!

Shading in the background for contrast.

Black inked shadows in that water to draw in the eye and this image is complete!

We were invited over to hang out at my brothers so I have to get ready to leave now. I’ll probably share images of the kids and pups!

Thanks for stopping by to view my art! 🦊

Pffttt. I thought you drew something dirty when I saw your thumbnail...its just a sports, dissappointed...

Dear Artzonian, thanks for using the #ArtzOne hashtag. Your work is valuable to the @ArtzOne community. Quote of the week: Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics. -Victor Pinchuk

Yay, you're keeping up with inktober too. I like this one it almost looks like a cool diagram drawing like 'this is how to engage in a game of chicken' which I think is really cool.

Somehow! I’m a little behind so I’m working hard to catch up! Oh, a diagram drawing! I can totally see that now! 😆

I meant it as a compliment too, It made me smile and that's my number one feeling to get from art.

Something in the soft lines reminds me of one of my very old comic favourites, Alex Varenne. He was a great inspiration for me when I was a teenager.

A great drawing.

Thanks! I’ll have to look up those comics!

The series you should look for is called Ardeur. A strange post-acopalyptic, and very European tale, with a somewhat faulty storyline, but a very special mood/atmosphere. It is 100% 1980 punk experience. I might have to write a post about it.

They weren't really able to finish the series, or at least it ended in a strange, depressing way, and then he started to make pornography. Still the very special brush inking, but not at all as fascinating as the first series. Just silly fucking.

This one really looks different because it's not your usual soft and delicate lines. I like your ink works too, foxxie, and the topic of chicken is very interesting :D.

I've never played this game before but it's probably good because I would be losing for sure lol.

Oh, yeah...definitely not my usual style. All this inking I’m doing is blowing my mind. 🤯

Hahah! That sounds like something I’d say about any sport or game!

My original idea was to draw someone afraid of heights with another person ...but that got super complicated in my mind.

Hahaha 🤣 i know this happens also to me but I recognized it’s often just a mind thing and when I start I somehow will work out (in most cases)

But I like this illustration you decided to go with! 🤙

I need to start taking more reference photos! 😫 Somehow I’ve gotten better with compromising....with myself. :D With Inktober, I’m trying to have fun but not bite off more than I can chew since inking is such a huge challenger for me.

Thanks for the support!

Yeah inktober is a big time consumer but you do great!

Im also gratful for your attention :)

Chicken fights are usually laughter and fun until the one in the bottom does not hold the laughter and starts to swallow water automatically you know that at that time you lost the fight! But it is a great and very creative drawing for how you managed to capture that idea :)

HAHA! I was lucky enough to be the shortest so I didn’t have to be the one on the bottom! I could see myself swalling loads of water and getting sick!

I've played that a few times XD And some variations where everyone is fighting XD Nice take on the prompt :)

Thanks! I wanted to think outside the box. :) Did you know they have chick floats specifically for chicken fights?? I feel like that would make the game even harder!

You did a really impressive job on the lines...and the fingers, but I mainly think that because I suck at fingers. The heads in particular look very accurate. And the hair.

:D :D :D What a fun way to do the prompt !! Really nice body language for both of the boys, foxi ! Love how they interact and connect with each other :) Very nice <3
