The pinhead
I found this wacky-looking grasshopper nymph the other day. It's one of the genus Truxaloides, also known as stick grasshoppers. It is getting adult coloring but has yet to get an adult-sized set of wings. Although grasshopper heads don't contain too many brains, I can't help but think that this one is somehow brainless or something. Love those big mad eyes, though.
In fact, a grasshopper's brain is located between its eyes, just above the esophagus. The brain is connected to the 1st ventral ganglion by a pair of ventral nerves that surround the gut. A grasshopper can do many things, like walking and jumping, without its brain.

But, for me, this grasshopper is very strange and not beautiful!

We often saw a lot of grasshoppers in the grass. But mostly they were gray. We liked how far they jump. But most of all we didn’t like locusts, which looked like grasshoppers, but were green. During the communist regime in our country, all land belonged to the state. Locusts destroyed spraying chemicals from airplanes. Now the whole land is distributed to individuals. There were many small landowners who can not pay for the pollination of their fields. Locust has become a lot. She is very pissing. Many farmers bear large losses from the invasion of the locust, some go bankrupt.
I didn't realise they are a problem in Russia also. Locusts are a terrible problem in Africa
Yes, in the southern regions of Russia very often the locusts cause great damage to farmers. She literally eats everything that grows in the fields. After it, only the black earth remains.
