Internet Access Varies Across the WorldsteemCreated with Sketch.

We take our access for granted, but China, India, Russia, and Cuba government is shaping internet access in ways that are certainly foreign to what we know in the U.S. and Europe. In the near-term future, who knows what kind of controls will be put in places like South America (Brazil?) and Africa.

Now half the world's population is online, which is amazing, but when one thinks about access to free and open internet, the number is much, much smaller, maybe miniscule. Humans are great at adapting, but are many quickly adapting to an internet that is narrow and corporate or government controlled? Like any other major communication tech, such as radio and t.v., the powers that be are quick to whittle down the content and definition of the format to fit their marketing, consumption, and control agenda.

The internet, and what it means, still only has just begun.
