I know the feeling, but do they shoot water photos in there too?
Yes there's a lot of people shooting from the water. It's rough though . No channel, a lot of rips, Eventually everybody gets hurt if they spend a lot of time out there. I've seen some serious injuries over the years.
I am sure there have been horrific ones too. But they are great photos to put everything into perspective.
Yeah! A lot of the biggest swells are really hard to shoot from the water. Wide angle lenses make the wave look small and it's super hard to stay in position under the lip. A 50mm or longer lens will show the size better but there's no channel and you end up getting slammed up the beach and/or dragged over to the next section that was once called "brutals"

Awesome! Cheers @intrepidsurfer, it truly was an epic day of surf. I was quite happy to be watching from the safety of the shore as it was huge and plenty of guys were being pounded. Congrats to all the other entries too!! Plenty of great entries!!
