I'm not a writer.

So this is my introduction. I am not a writer. I like simple short unconnected sentences because I am not a writer.

Maybe I can begin by saying that I am an expat living and working in Malaysia. I quite love living here. This font is terrible. It's 5:29 AM here and I am up and writing this very first Steemit post.

Unfortunately I still cannot speak, write or understand bahasa Malaysia, or Malaysian language, a.k.a Malay. The official language of Malaysia. I believe that slowly I am getting the hang of it. Occasionally I even finding myself expressing sentiments through ah; eh; oh; sounds, and saying words such as lah, leh, also and how, in the middle of my sentences where in my own language it would have been completely wrong to do so. In Malaysia this is totally fine, and makes all your sentences sound so much better.

Maybe a bit off topic there, but I would just like to point out I like what you guys have done with the English language here in Malaysia. It's genius.

Today, I woke up early to have my breakfast, or Sahur. I have been staying in Malaysia for well over a year, but during the Puasa month last year I was not in Malaysia so I was not able to join my Muslim friends for Puasa. So this is my first time actually trying it. Initially, it was proposed by a few of my colleagues at my workplace. I would say it was relatively easy for them to convince me to take up the challenge. By the way, it's only 4 more days left.

I missed 4 days also, due to some personal reasons. Now I only have left to consider whether I should replace these 4 days or not; maybe you can help me decide by leaving a comment below. I think it was such a great, positive and empowering experience. I totally respect all of you that have to do it each and every year.

Anyway, this is only an introduction. I am not entirely certain what kind of content I will be writing in here in the future. Possibly some content might be about food or hiking or running or technology, or just something completely random. So follow me at your own risk. These are just some of the things that I am interested in.

Actually I am from a very technical background. I have studied Computer Science and now I am working for a blockchain and AI company in Kuala Lumpur. So most likely I will like to write about this kind of stuff. I see that this platform, still focuses quite a lot on the blockchain markets, rather than technical implementations and etc. So maybe this can be a good starting point for me. So follow me at your own risk.

I attend a monthly blockchain meetup in KL called Stellar KL Meetup. I met this guy called Jason (@buzz.lightyear ). He introduce me to this platform and so here I am today writing this first post. The whole concept is very interesting, and very awesome implementation and a real use-case for a blockchain application.

Nevertheless, I believe that my writing style is completely messed up as of today. I am working on it I promise. So now is 6:09 AM and I am going to finally publish my first ever post on Steemit. Thank you and congratulation to all of your who read until the very end. I don't know how you managed to read something so terrible like it. So now you can follow me and leave a comment below. You can either tell me what I already know, that I have a terrible writing style, or maybe you can give me some pointers to how I can improve my content writing in the future.

Terima Kasih! (Which is Thank You in Malay)

Hello cattleofra! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!

Haha! OK noted. 😉

Congratulations on setting up your account. I think you write pretty well. It is easy to read and very much like a conversation-style.

Be yourself - the fact that you can write randomly means you can pick and choose whatever topic to write as and when you want to.
