D-City Will Be Open Source, 100% Decentralized and Here’s a Report on How Fast We are Progressing

in #introduceyourself6 years ago (edited)

Hello Everyone,

We are glad to annouce that D-City have been experiencing a lot of postive movement and there's more that have been going on since we announced this project to the world via the steemit community over 3 weeks ago.

The connections that we have made with professionals in different fields related to our project, the partnership we have closed with individuals and cooperations and the amazing feedback from steemians are the greatest achievements of our announcement post. So we say thanks to everyone.

In this short report, we will be sharing with the community, few among the many things that have been done, improved and changed.

And also share what stage of the project we currently are and how we have fast evolved after the first announcement post via steemit that saw our project to reality for the first time.

So, take a nice look below and don't forget to drop your feedback via the comment section.

New Branded Identity

The official project name is now “D-City”, and the “Bania” Prefix we used early in our announcement post would fit in some other time.

We have settled for this new project brand name after series of consultations and advises from many lovers of this project.

Also, because we want to align our brand with the principle of simple but effective branding.

"D-City is a unique name to give a unique project such as D-City" said one of our consultant, because it’s short, easy to remember, pronounce, write and memorize.

Initially, we wanted to name the project “Bania D-City”, but a lot of people thought that it was more personal to use the name of the visionary of the project as same for the project name. But one thing is not clear here to most people who thought that way and that is;

Bania is formally a personal brand name of D-City visionary (Kazeem Olabisi) that later evolved into a business brand name of a company founded by same person. So though, our project name is D-City, the major company behind it is “Bania Group” in partnership with many other great brands that have shown interest.

There’s a need to also clarify that D-City is the project name and not the city name. The city name is yet to be unveiled.

You can easily relate to this, just as Steem is a blockchain and Steemit is One of the Frontends.

So we have envisioned that after the success of D-City in Nigeria, we might be called upon as a company to build many D-Cities all over the world.

D-City Steemit Account

It’s obvious, but we need to add it to our progressive movement because we delayed a bit to claim the account on the steem blockchain and there were tendencies that someone smarter than us could pick it up early. Interestingly we were the one that later secured the D-City username.

We believe in steem, and we love steemit. Steem and steemit are part of our story and we are glad to use this platform as a bedrock to roll out our project with a sense of community.

Team Members

We have begin building our team from scratch, starting directly with steemians that showed early interest and proved their experiences.

We are also leveraging on LinkedIn to reach out to professionals in this fields to join us in our project.

Currently, we are proud to introduce @ogochukwu from Nigeria as D-City business manager and @masterroshi as the project manager.

We have more people in the team currently, and proper introduction will be done later on. If you have anything urgent to pass across to us, you can quickly reach any of these guys or contact @bania, via any of the platforms listed below this post..

Integrating with Utopian and Making D-City Open Source

We entertain suggestions from many people and one that was evident was that; there are a lot of people that love to contribute independently to D-City in many unique ways, and it will be more easy for them to do this if we open source our project and integrate with steem @utopian-io.

We are glad to announce that D-City will be open source and our smart contract code will be uploaded to github for developers to contribute and modify accordingly. Once we have a public code released on github, we will link the project to utopian for contributions from everyone.

And we hope that most of D-City applications will be built on the blockchain mostly by voluntary contributors/developers that we will get compensated and funded with our token.

We appreciate the idea of utopian and we are supporting the platform by telling everyone that, once we link to the platform, get on board over there and use the platform to give D-City quality and the best of contributions while you get rewarded.

D-City Will be a 100% Decentralized City

Why should we neglect full decentralization when our project is all about decentralization and even named after it?

We got some decentralized/blockchain professionals questioned the decentralization aspect of D-City. Some don’t see anything decentralized in our project as per what we proposed in our announcement post.

We agreed with this to a certain level and this is due to the fact that we couldn't cover everything possible about D-City in our announcement post.

We are making D-City a 100% decentralized smart city and in consultation with some professionals in the blockchain industry, we have mapped out some decentralized features of D-City that will encourage a free community that’s truly decentralized and govern by principle of voluntarism.

Some of D-City decentralized features include but not limited to:

  1. A Blockchain based identity for residents

  2. A Decentralized records of the land registry and ownership.

  3. Dapps for Blockchains use in dispute resolutions and governance (administration stuff) of the area

  4. Blockchain based voting to elect representative and conduct free and fair election.

  5. Mobile network using peer-to-peer network, to build a free network for people. (there is a company in the US already developed similar device)

  6. Dapps for Decentralized and trustless marketplace to trade goods

And many more that we might think of later and implement to help create a decentralized city that favors everyone and not just some group of people called government.

Conclusion

This is our first steemit post via our official steemit account D-City and the first report/feedback we are giving to this community. There will be more of this in the coming weeks and months, so do ensure you follow us to know more as we progress and and report to the steemit community.

What a nice initiative. This is a big forward step towards the future of Nigeria. Kudos to everyone who's trying to make this work

Thanks @gotgame

We are glad to see your lovely reply

You're welcome

The blockchain have brought a lot of projects that have promised to bring us solace in one aspect or the other.

And while this projects are amazing some people still Fail to really acknowledge their significance due to the fact they can't see and feel them.

D-city is a game changer and it is bound to give everyone a unique experience of the blockchain. The journey has been amazing so far and it is bound to get better.

I am also thankful to @elear and @ned for the Utopian.io opportunity. It is a platform we cherish as it will enable the great minds of Steemit contribute to the project.

This is a Project I am Proud to be a part of and I am sure we will make Blockchain History.

@Ogochukwu.

Yeah, bro

Blockchain makes it an exciting time to be a live and steem makes it a fulfilling one. Thanks for your interest and support right from day one.

Repost @bot-share best content on one page.

When I first read about it, I thought it was a brave idea, science-fiction like, but I liked it.. (it even has my initials D.C. in it)
I would love to be part of it, involved with anything I can, even though I might never end up moving to Nigeria...

Your initial D.C.? What could that mean?

Yeah, we will appreciate you to be part of our project and we are looking forward to working with you.

And about moving to Nigeria; we would say, don't conclude yet :)

OK... I won't conclude yet :) DC Danny..
