Travel, Games, and Food - An Intro

Hello Steemit Community,

2018_June12_FirstPost.jpg

One of my friends introduced me to the Steemit site not too long ago (@lilturtle), and I decided to just go ahead and sign up. I like the the concept of mixing blogging with some form of cryptocurrency and upvotes.

I wanted to try blogging again and I hope to get into the habit of posting my thoughts along with the pictures I tend to post.

So what do I like , and what I likely post about? There are a few topics that I have decided to wrap my head around.

Travel

I make a point of trying to travel at least once a year. So you may see me posting about past adventures or upcoming ones. I would like to keep track of what I do better, so I hope I get into the habit of posting not just pictures that interest me, but all the information I normally look for when I do plan trips.

For example, here's a recent trip that I took to Japan last October.

The above image features one of the places I went - Osaka Castle. Going forward, I hope to include additional information within my blog posts, like its history, what I found interesting about the area, where I stayed and would I go back again? Generally information to keep myself informed along with any other reader that would be interested in going there in the future. A typical question, for example, that people ask me is "how much did it cost?" and "where did you stay?".

Games

I am a gamer. Maybe not a competitive First-person shooter or League of Legend player, but I am a console gamer. I generally play Role-Playing games like the Tales series, Skyrim, and Final Fantasy. Lately, I've been playing Neverwinter on the Playstation 4 gaming console.

With that in mind, I would like to start posting some information on my character progress on here. A part of me doubts it will last long, and if so, I'll probably shift to other games that I play that's not necessarily Playstation 4 related. I also used to play Magic: The Gathering, dabbled in Hearthstone, and recently played D&D. So maybe I'll create blog posts from a beginner's perspective on the above-mentioned topics.

Food

I like to think myself a foodie. I enjoy finding good food, taking pictures of it, and hopefully revisiting the location at another time if I happen to be in the area (unless I see something new).

In regards to blog posts, I am hoping that if I do post about food-related adventures, that I remember to not just post the image of the food, but to provide my insight onto it. Questions I normally ask myself is - where is this, how much did I pay, what did I order, and is it worth coming back?

The pictures I posted to accompany my food section of this blog posts unfortunately didn't cover the amount I paid nor what I did order. I can tell you without a doubt that they are both locations I would go back to in Kobe, Japan.

I am hope that I encounter other fellow Steemit bloggers that share at least some of my interests.

Side question: Is there a beginner channel where I can read up on some tips and tricks? I noticed there is no Draft mode, and this blog has limited formatting (I did find this useful Steemit post by @lourenc).

Sort:

There is no dedicated draft mode, however the editor saves words automatically until it is published (at least on the same browser and with no deletion of history). For formatting just google: "Markdown Cheatsheet" and use it ;)

Greets,
@theaustrianguy

Thank you! It is good to know the browser will - at least - save for me.

Hello ninacess! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
