About Me, My Feature Film, and the Future

Back in 2007 I finished college at the University of Montana, no not graduated- finished, and began principle photography on a feature film I had written while attending the school. It took 90 days to shoot followed by 3 days of re-shoots months later. My first edit of the film was over 3 hours....I looked at it and knew I had a real piece of shit on my hands. I proceeded to trim it down and finished it at a cool 110 minutes of.... a passable movie. I consider it, if nothing more, a catalogue of mistakes, or rather a ledger of my real film education.

In 2011 I submitted it to film festivals and some of them picked it up. It even brought in 2 awards. The Gold Kahuna Award from the Honolulu Film Festival and The First Time Directing Award from the Colorado Film Festival.

Here is the trailer for my film titled Seven Eves:

I recently made the film available through self distribution on Amazon so anyone who was interested, mostly the people involved, could buy a DVD and watch it. Here:https://www.amazon.com/Seven-Eves-Zac-Thomas/dp/B071W3FJ6Z/ref=sr_1_7?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1517169934&sr=1-7&keywords=seven+eves

Now, I am writing the next film It may take me another 6 years to make, but I guess that's just how I work. I am nearly 40 years old and unless I become a professional, I figure I only have 3-4 films to make in my life....and I plan on making them good ones. ~Cheers, Mark Nordhagen (aka. Mark Sarte)

It’s nice to hear your story! My Uncle is a wildlife film maker in Kenya and he is just wrapping up on a 7 year project! Best of luck on your new journey and I look forward to following more of your story!

Thanks Tristian. I am a firm believer that any good piece takes time. ~Cheers

Hey Mark,

Despite we are at the different sides of the world, we are facing against similar challenges about becoming filmmakers :)

You are ahead of me actually!

I watched the trailer and read the plot. Somehow reminded me Barton Fink and Coen-esque taste. Never stop trying. I know I won't :)

I was looking for filmmakers and screenwriters here on Steemit. Got one now, following for future content.

Good luck! (my vote power is too low right now to upvote, sorry)
Deniz

Thanks Deniz. Perhaps we could trade footage at some point. I could give you footage of the mountains and rivers of Montana and you could send me footage of Istanbul. I don't know what I would do with footage of Istanbul, but I would use it if I had it.
