Hi, my name is Stephen Akiri, from porthacourt Nigeria. I joined steemit january 2018, didnt know anything about it so i wasnt interested in it.
Let me start by telling a little about my family. I come from a family of 5 siblings and the second born. I and my lovely twin sister had a hard time growing up at a neighborhood were you have to be smart or you will be played. My parents did their best by funding my education and am forever greatful. Below is a pic of i and my twin sis at our one year old birthday

After my high school, had a hard time gaining admission in the university, it was really frustrating seeing my friends gain admission while i stayed at home, anyway, while at home for four years i had to acquire some skills like learning how to operate a computer system, learnt the ms word, excel and other programs.
After much support and advise from my lovely mom i finally got admitted into the university in 2009 to study petroleum engineering and few years time i was done and ready for my NYSC. This was my first day in Taraba State NYSC camp, made new friends and socialised well.

NYSC in the northern part of Nigeria was harsh for me because of the weather condition and i didnt know how to speak the native hausa language so i could communicate with pupils well, i still did my best and i'm proud to have learnt hausa langauage in the process.

This is me now after all those years and am still learning and applying my skills the best way possible and thats one of my reasons of interest with this great community called steemit

This is me now

I really look forward to enjoying my years in steemit and giving the best of me to this community while learning and getting informed by others, thank you.

Hello rickieflamez! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
