Hello, I'm here, finally...

in #introduction4 years ago (edited)

I'm here because Narrative rode into the sunset. And many of the people I grew to know and call friends, have been on Steem for awhile, and some of them are joining because Narrative is gone. It was a great concept, but sometimes that is not enough.

I like to write, I often write both fiction and non-fiction. When I write fiction, it usually falls into the Speculative, Weird, or Horror genres, I enjoy SciFi and Fantasy writing, too. When I write non-fiction, I enjoy doing pieces on practical sustainability and eco-awareness - basically living smaller and enjoying more. And I like to do interview pieces, because people are fascinating (especially if they, themselves, do not believe they are). I am working on lots of different writing projects, and hope to sell a few more books this coming year than I did in 2019.

I don't know what I don't know about Steem...so there will be a learning curve, and I may not be as active here as I was on Narrative because this interface is somewhat daunting, as is the variety of keys I must maintain (and not lose or I lose everything). Not that I have anything yet to lose...but in case I do well here, I guess I need to be very careful. I tried to open an account here ages ago, and my laptop died and I lost the keys.

Hopefully this time I will be okay, since I have saved them in a zillion safe spots and on jump drives etc etc. But as Gandalf once said "Even the wisest cannot see all ends" or some such (I was paraphrasing, so if you are a Tolkien scholar, please don't hate me). On the plus side, I love to explore so I think this will be a fun experiment.

If you need my bio - I'm an amerasian woman, in my 60's, and worked in Tech for nearly 40 years in all aspects. Then I burned out and built a pet services business and a non-profit. I retired those when my husband's job required us to move. And now I write. And I've always been an artist on the side, so I often experiment with mixed media. I have a huge black german shepherd named Logan and two cats - Mister and Claudia. But these things only tell you about me from the outside looking in, to know who I am, you have to read my fiction...then you will get into my head instead of the surface stuff that is usually in biographies.

I hope to make new friends here, and to catch up with those I met elsewhere.

Welcome Natalia (@rinaof) 🙂

Glad to see you made it over. It was sad to hear about narrative, I stopped being active there a while ago because I don't have the time (or energy due to a chronic illness) to manage two blogs. Still, it's a shame it didn't work out.

In regards to steem, it can be a little slow getting started on here, and discord groups are really the key to networking on steem. There are a tone of communities to join where you can chat and make contacts, as well as promote your content.

I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm following you know 👍🙂

P.s. you will get more notice with an introduction post if you use the #introduceyourself tag (you can still add it in now by editing this post as you've only used 4 tags), or it might be an idea to write another intro post using that tag. If you do, tag me in on the post. I've thrown a tweet out into twitter-world tagging some prominent steemians to try and get your intro a little more notice too :)

P.p.s

When I write non-fiction, I enjoy doing pieces on practical sustainability and eco-awareness - basically living smaller and enjoying more.

Then natural medicine + ecotrain communities are definitely for you, also folks in there can direct you to other homesteading groups where you can make connections.

@riverflows can hook you up with an invite to the discord server :)

P.p.p.s ... so many addendum's. I've also just delegated 50 steem power to you to add to the 50 @blockurator delegated to you to help you get started and give you more power to comment/vote etc.

Natalia (@rinaof), I found this post thanks to @raj808 on Twitter. Welcome to Steemit!
With Raj to greet you and introduce you to others here, you're in good hands.
You've got my support too and whatever encouragement and promo-help I can offer.
Welcome aboard!

Thank you - everyone is so open and supportive it is quite overwhelming!

Thank you very much!! It is probably the hardest part of the year to try to learn something new while also preparing for the holidays...I'll be travelling this coming weekend, so I won't be on very much, but I will look in to the communities you've suggested. Hugs to you!!

You're welcome, happy to help 🙂

Steem can be a steep learning curve. Take it at your own pace and I'm sure you'll do great 👍

Welcome, nice to see the support on the post A+

Yeah a bummer it didnt work out, the idea was beautiful, but with the conocial links thingy my enthusiasm was kind of tempered. Nevertheless....the were a lot of good people there.

Good to see you here!

Thank you for the welcome...I am on overload, I think. There is so much to process. <3

Welcome to Steem! There is a little bit of a learning curve but you don’t need to learn it all in one day. I’m still learning new stuff about this place. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. Cheers!

Welcome to the community !!

Thanks! Y'all have made me feel VERY welcome!
