MY NEW ARTWORK

Hello dear friends!
as you have seen from the last posts are in Vienna,
and, apart from meeting friends, including the Steemit Austria group, I'm working on my new sculpture.
Having several of my things in various countries I' m here with a marble to sculpt, and to do this I'm creating the clay model which will help me not to make mistakes when I start to work the stone.
First of all I went shopping and bought the clay, also called earth, that you can see in the picture below; and a metal net that I needed for the structure, fortunately I had the rest of the material.

Ciao cari amici!
come avete visto da gli ultimi post sono a Vienna,
e, a parte incontrare amici, tra cui il gruppo Steemit Austria, sto lavorando alla mia nuova scultura.
Avendo sparso diverse cose mie in vari paesi mi ritrovo con un marmo da scolpire qui, e per fare questo sto creando il modello in argilla il quale mi servirá per non fare degli errori quando inizieró a lavorare la pietra.
Innanzitutto ho fatto spesa e ho comprato l' argilla, anche chiamata terra o creta, che vedete nella foto sottostante; e una rete di metalloche mi serviva per la struttura, il resto del materiale per fortuna lo avevo digiá.

The clay exists in different colors and different textures.
The most common ones are red and grey, but there is also black, brownish and white.
For those who don't know it, it has the consistency of plasticine!
It is a material that can be modelled, added and removed until you decide that a work is finished.
It is mainly modelled with the hands but there are several tools that a sculptor should have, starting from a sponge, if possible natural, to have water on the hands while working the earth.

L‘ argilla esiste in diversi colori e diverse consistenze.
Quelle più comuni sono quella rossa e quella grigia, ma esiste anche nera, marroncina e bianca.
Per chi non la conoscesse, ha la consistenza della plastilina!
È un materiale il quale si può modellare, aggiungere e togliere finché non si decide che un‘ opera sia finita.
Principalmente si modella con le mani ma esistono diversi strumenti che uno scultore dovrebbe possedere, partendo da una spugna, se possibile naturale, per poter annaffiare le mani mentre lavora la terra.

As a second thing, you can use loops, which are used to remove the clay.

Come seconda cosa possono servire delle mirette, che servono a togliere l' argilla.

There are smooth or carved, and you can also easily make it by yourself without having to buy them.

Esistono liscie o intagliate, e si possono anche costruire facilmente senza doverle comprare.

The next tools you need are spatulas of different materials, shapes and sizes.

I prossimi strumenti che servono sono delle spatoline di diversi materiali, forme e grandezze.

Here you can see what the metal net, which I attached to a wooden base, was used for: to put some wood into it in order to keep the clay.

Qui potete vedere a cosa mi é servita la rete di metallo, la quale ho fissato ad una base di legno, e cioé ad infilarci dei legnetti in modo da far tenere l' argilla.

I covered it all with earth to have a similar shape to that of the marble, the one on the bottom left.

Ho coperto il tutto con la terra per arrivare ad avere una forma simile a quella del marmo da scolpire, quello sul fondo in basso a sinistra.

And I started to remove and model.

E ho iniziato a togliere e modellare.

In the next few days I want to finish the sketch to start working the marble, also because I brought all the tools with me.

Nei prossimi giorni voglio finire il bozzetto per iniziare a lavorare il marmo, anche perché mi sono portata dietro tutti gli strumenti.
