For my entry to the i-Talent art contest I present to you "Botticelli e Filippino" an original oil painting made here in Firenze. This painting shows the juxtoposition between the amazing architectural properties of Firenze and the people that happen to be there. I love the guy on the left, looking for some shade by sitting on an unbelievably beautiful lamppost.

Of course the fulcrum of the piece is the advertisment for the Botticelli and Filippino show. Here we have as the protagonist of my painting, another painting! A painting within a painting? Botticelli's masterpiece "Pallade e il Centauro" dominates Piazza della Repubblica in Firenze, and yet if you were there you might not even take it in. This is what I like to do in Firenze, just walk around and look at the city, I wait until I get inspiration. When I saw this billboard, I knew it was perfect.

One of the best things about Firenze is that everyone is taking photos all day long. I set up a tripod, and nobody cared. It was funny, they had no idea that I was planning to paint them! The people didn't even see me.

I like to add little "Easter Eggs" in my paintings, one of my favorite things to do is to add my signature into the composition, something I learned from Richard Estes. You can see my name on the billboard.

I look forward to hearing from you about my painting. If you like what you see, feel free to follow me on steemit @matteopaints , and visit my website:

Beautiful work. Love the idea of tagging your work.
Good practice to let people know who created such an awesome piece of art.

Thanks!!!! I really like finding places to sign the painting that take part in the composition.

I really love your works, Matthew ! Very nice colours and the composition is well considered <3 Love the close ups, as well <3

Thank you!!!!🎉🎈

Brilliant again, @matteopaints, you’re in a world in your own.

I’ve been catching your signature in various locations, that’s a fun idea. Like the ladies shopping bag at that intersection you painted about a month ago.

How long do you think it took you to paint this? Months? Longer?

Good luck in the i-talent contest!

Thanks! you are too kind :). This is one of my "Summer Paintings", in other words, here in Firenze it gets really hot in the Summer, so I tend to start a difficult, large painting to stay out of the sun ;) Also, it took all Summer to finish.
