Explosive Clouds II :: Beautiful Japan #94

in #japan6 years ago (edited)

Sound the war drums—there's something going on up there. Maybe some ghost riders hiding behind those massive clouds.

I previously posted a photo of some explosive clouds here. Here's a sequel!

When I shared the last one on Twitter, I was told it was either cumulonimbus or cumulonimbus calvus. Any cloud experts out there who can tell me for sure?

All I know of them is that in late summer, these things show up nearly every day when it isn't raining.

I did a second version of this shot, processing it a little more naturally. I favor this one more personally. Actually I would probably favor monochrome more, but I have to keep myself from playing too much in Lightroom. Easy to lose time in that app.

Which one do you like more?
