A car park in Tiberias on an open field.

When we first arrived in Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee, we booked into the Tiberias Hostel, where we were staying. We were told of two Free Parking places we could park our car. One, just up the road, the other on a field a few blocks away. So after unpacking, we took our car to the nearby parking lot, but decided to go park in the field. It was evening, so the field was empty. We felt to park on the far side.

After attending Church on the Saturday, a local member, Bro Hansen, told us of the first visit by a Latter-day Apostle to The Sea of Galilee. It was Lorenzo Snow in 1871. He later became the 5th Latter-day Prophet. He had come to tour the Holy Land and re-dedicate this land for the return of the Jews. It had previously been dedicated in 1842 by the Apostle Orsen Hyde, sent by the Prophet Joseph Smith. Lorenzo Snow arrived in Tiberias in a caravan and set up camp for a few days. To the best that he could, Bro Hansen had worked out where the camp site was.

We asked him to show it to us, which he did. We followed him to the site. He stopped at the "parking " field and pointed to the other side - the exact spot we had parked on our first night in Tiberias!!!

No wonder we had felt to park there, even though the field was empty at the time.

President Lorenzo Snow, first Latter-day Apostle to visit the Sea of Galilee and 5th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
