Naruto (ナ ル ト) is a manga series by Masashi Kishimoto that was adapted into an anime series. Naruto Manga tells the story of the life of the main character, Naruto Uzumaki , a hyperactive, cheerful, and ambitious ninja who wants to realize his desire to get the title of Hokage , the strongest leader and ninja in his village. The series is based on a one-shot comic by Kishimoto published in the Akamaru Jump edition in August 1997. [1]

Naruto Manga was first published in Japan by Shueisha in 1999 in the 43rd edition of Shonen Jump magazine . In Indonesia , this manga is published by Elex Media Komputindo . The popularity and length of Naruto's own series (especially in Japan) rival the Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama , while the Naruto anime series, produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex, is premiere in Japan by TV networks Tokyo and also by anime satellite television networks, such as Animax and other television stations, on October 3, 2002 until now. The first series consists of 9 seasons and lasts 220 episodes. The first season of the second series began airing on February 15, 2007 . In Indonesia alone, the Naruto anime was aired by the Trans TV television station, which was later aired further by GTV and was aired on Indosiar for the fourth and fifth seasons until Naruto Shippuden was the fifth season. In addition to the anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed eight films for the series and several original video animation (OVA). Types of merchandise include light novels , video games and a collection of cards developed by several companies.

Viz Media has a North American production manga and anime license. Viz has published this series in their magazine, Shonen Jump , as well as several volumes. The anime series began airing in the United States and Canada in 2005, and later in the UK and Australia in 2006 and 2007. Films, as well as some OVAs from this series, were also released by Viz, with premieres in theaters. The first DVD volume of Naruto: Shippuden was released by Viz in North America on September 29, 2009, and began broadcast on Disney XD in October of the same year. Naruto Shippuden aired on Adult Swim, Toonami in January 2014. Viz Media began streaming both series on their Neon Alley streaming service in December 2012.

The story begins when a nine-tailed fox monster called the Kyuubi attacks Konoha , a shinobi village located in the Fire country. Chaos happened in Konoha village and many victims fell. Finally there is someone who manages to eliminate the Kyuubi by sealing part of the Kyuubi chakra into his own body and the rest is sealed to Naruto's body, the person who managed to seal the nine-tailed fox monster is known as Yondaime Hokage, the 4th Hokage or Minato Namikaze who is none other than the father of Naruto. The sealing uses the God of Death style so the risk is the death of the 4th Hokage itself.

Twelve years later, told a child named Naruto Uzumaki who often made trouble in the village of Konoha. Naruto did that because he wanted the attention of the villagers who were away from him because of the fox in his body or called the container of tailed monsters or Jinchuuriki . Naruto didn't know that, because the 3rd Hokage forbade Konoha villagers from telling the Kyuubi attack.

Naruto is then tricked by Mizuki, a Konoha traitor to steal the secret scroll of the inheritance of Tobirama Senju (2nd Hokage), Naruto who innocently does this and manages to steal and learn a thousand shadow moves. After learning that he was used, Naruto refused to give the scroll. Then, Mizuki told of the Kyuubi attack which had destroyed Konoha and caused many casualties, including Iruka's parents. Iruka is Naruto's teacher at the academy which is the first person to acknowledge Naruto's existence, because Iruka once experienced the same thing, namely living without parents, and always blanketed in solitude. Then Iruka helped Naruto, but Iruka was seriously injured due to Mizuki's shuriken. The angry Naruto saw that, so he was able to practice the thousand-shadow moves he had learned from the scroll. Mizuki who was outnumbered to the point of being battered by Naruto's shadow blows. After the fight, Iruka gave Naruto his headband in recognition that Naruto deserved to be a ninja, so Naruto was legitimate to become Genin . Previously, Naruto was not allowed to become a ninja, even worse, Naruto had been banned from attending the academy.

Naruto's life as a Genin began with the formation of Team 7, consisting of Naruto, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno , with Kakashi Hatake as their teacher. [3] During tests with Kakashi , Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura barely graduated. Seeing the cohesiveness of the team between Naruto and Sasuke, Kakashi also graduated them, arguing that his friend, Obito, from the Uchiha clan , said, "People who are disobedient to the rules are rubbish but people who let their friends suffer more humiliation than rubbish!" Naruto's and his friends' mission began, namely protecting Tazuna and other architects during the construction of the bridge in the land of the Water. Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke and Kakashi are faced with two powerful ninja escape from the fog country, Haku and Zabuza , sent by a wealthy gangster to stop the construction of bridges by the poor people of the country. A fierce battle ensued, Haku was about to attack Naruto but instead exposed Sasuke who protected Naruto. Thinking that Sasuke was dead, Naruto was angry and Kyuubi's chakra seal was open, so the red chakra came out making Haku overwhelmed. Kakashi who was about to finish off Zabuza with Raikiri's stance regarding Haku protecting Zabuza. Being touched by Haku's sacrifice and feeling betrayed by the gangsters who instead tried to kill him, Zabuza went berserk and killed the gangster leader with a small kunai in his mouth. At the end of the fight Zabuza was killed beside Haku. The residents of the country of Air also named the new bridge with the name of the Naruto bridge as a sign of gratitude and appreciation to Naruto who had aroused the spirit of the people of the country of Water.

The 3rd Hokage summoned the Konoha Jouns to discuss the Chuunin exam between Konoha and Sunagakure . The Jounins agreed to hold a test and send their selected ninjas. During the Naruto exam registration, Sasuke and Sakura met many strong new rivals, among others, Gaara , Kankurou , Temari , Rock Lee , Neji Hyuga and others. The initial exam starts with a written test, thanks to the spirit of Naruto, some participants can graduate. The second test in the form of a live death round scrambles for a secret scroll in the Konoha Death Forest. Unexpectedly, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura were attacked by one of Orochimaru's legendary Sannins disguised as participants. Orochimaru added the Naruto Kyuubi chakra seal, and gave a sign of condemnation to Sasuke to pull Sasuke into his followers. Naruto and his friends managed to get out of the forest thanks to Kabuto who gave a lot of instructions to Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. Meanwhile, Kiba , Hinata and Shino witnessed Gaara 's terrifying greatness. The third round begins, Kabuto suddenly resigns to make Naruto amazed. The fierce battle begins between Sakura versus Ino , Neji versus Hinata , Naruto versus Kiba , Garaa versus Rock Lee and others. Naruto who saw Neji's atrocities against Hinata, after Hinata promised to defeat Neji. Lee's fight against Gaara was the fiercest in which Lee was forced to use the ultimate attack of ura renge , causing Gaara to be pressed and almost dark in his eyes to kill Lee if Guy (Lee's teacher) did not arrive in time to stop him. Meanwhile Kakashi gave a seal for the sign of the curse that Orochimaru gave to Sasuke. Kakashi almost fought with Orochimaru who appeared suddenly. Here also revealed that Kabuto was Orochimaru's spy.

The 3rd Hokage provides a period of rest and training for the participants for 3 months before the 4th round begins. Naruto was trained by Konohamaru's private teacher, Ebisu, to practice walking on water. While Kakashi trained Sasuke. Naruto, who underwent training with his new teacher, met a strange hermit who claimed to be named Jiraiya the Frog Sannin. Jiraiya then opened the Kyuubi's chakra seal while training Naruto to walk on the water, because previously Naruto's chakra was unstable. Naruto then forced Jiraiya to teach him a new move because he thought Jiraiya had interrupted his training. Jiraiya teaches animal calling skills. At first Naruto could only summon a small red tadpole, after Jiraiya threw him on the cliff, Naruto managed to summon Gamabunta. Jiraiya was interested in Naruto's character that was determined and never gave up defusing Gamabunta.

After that, Naruto brought Gamabunta to the hospital due to exhaustion. At the hospital, Naruto gets a visit from Shikamaru . The two of them then found Gaara trying to kill Lee who was sleeping. When Guy appears Gaara experiences trauma then leaves. Gaara spies on Sasuke and Kakashi's training, he is caught by Kakashi. Later that night he killed the sound country shinobi who tried to kill him under the red crescent.

The fourth round starts. Naruto finally fights against the powerful Neji, with his determination and ingenuity Naruto can defeat Neji and fulfill his promise to Hinata. Shikamaru defeated Temari with his ingenuity, but instead resigned at the end of the match even though he could win. Kankurou who also withdrew from the match made Shino upset. Sasuke and Gaara's battle started the longest, because Sasuke came late with Kakashi. Gaara is urged by Sasuke to be forced to hide inside the sand shield and want to take out Ichibi. Sasuke launched a Chidori attack which destroyed the sand shield and Garaa was injured for the first time. Ichibi almost came out, all messed up when there was an explosion at Konoha's gate, the Kazekage attacked the 3rd Hokage and the sand ninjas and the sound of attacking attacks, Konoha was in danger.

The injured Gaara was taken away by Kankurou and Temari into the forest, while Sasuke pursued them. The audience fell asleep because of Genjutsu's Kabuto stance disguised as an Anbu member. Only a few ninja are not affected, including Kakashi, Guy, Sakura, Shino and Shikamaru. Naruto was hit by Sakura, while Shikamaru pretended to be unconscious. Shikamaru, Sakura and Naruto chase after Sasuke assisted by Pakkun. The Kazekage turned out to be Orochimaru in disguise, the 3rd Hokage started his fierce battle with Orochimaru. Then Orochimaru used the forbidden stance, Edo Tensei, who raised the first Hokage and the 2nd Hokage to kill the 3rd Hokage. Kankurou fought with Shino who appeared suddenly, both of them in a draw. Sasuke defeated Temari then chased after Gaara. Sasuke was almost killed by Gaara. Luckily, Naruto and Sakura arrived. Shikamaru fights the ninja sounds but runs out of chakra. He was helped by Asuma when he was critical. Gaara attacked Sakura, making Naruto who was originally scared of Gaara become angry. Sasuke who was weak couldn't help Naruto. Gaara turns to Ichibi. Naruto wanted to call Gamabunta, but instead the Gamakichi came out, the little frog of Gamabunta's son. Naruto managed to summon Gamabunta with his nine-tailed fox chakra after removing a lot of blue chakra. A fierce battle ensued, Naruto and Gamabunta won against Gaara. While in Konoha, the 3rd Hokage used the Forbidden God of Death tactic that had been used by the 4th Hokage which requires its users to sacrifice their lives and Orochimaru managed to escape even though his hands were paralyzed due to being sucked by the God of Death. The battle ended with the withdrawal of the enemy and the death of the 3rd Hokage. [4]

After the funeral of the 3rd Hokage, Konoha's advisors met Jiraiya and asked him to become the 5th Hokage. Jiraiya refused on the grounds that there was still one more Sannin that was better than himself and Orochimaru, and that person was an expert in the medical field. Jiraiya invited Naruto to look for the third Sannin while offering to teach new moves on the journey. [5]

Two figures watched Konoha which had been ravaged from a distance. They are members of the Akatsuki organization which can be interpreted as "Dawn" and can be a doomsday meaning. Kakashi gets information about the Akatsuki organization from Jiraiya . Sasuke was invited by Kakashi to drink at a tavern where the two Akatsuki members were resting. Kurenai and Asuma arrived, they spied on the two Akatsuki members. Kurenai and Asuma were shocked to learn that one of them was Itachi Uchiha . A Uchiha clan who slaughtered all of his clan members and was the elder brother of Sasuke whom Sasuke wanted to kill. Itachi was accompanied by a traitor from the mist country, Kisame Hoshigaki who was also a senior from Zabuza . Asuma and Kurenai almost lost until Kakashi arrived. Kakashi and Itachi's battle was won by Itachi. Kakashi is mentally injured because of Itachi's illusionary moves. Guy arrives and threatens to call in a lot of reinforcements, making Itachi and Kisame run away. Itachi's and Kisame's goals for Konoha were to capture the Jinchuuriki Kyuubi, namely Naruto. But in fact it was only masked by Itachi, because actually he wanted to monitor Uchiha Sasuke who is his younger brother and warned the Konoha village officials that the slayer of the Uchiha clan was still alive so they would not do bad to Sasuke.

Kakashi was injured due to Tsukuyomi Itachi's stance in the hospital. Sasuke who came to visit without hearing the conversation of the Jounin about Itachi who came to Konoha looking for Naruto. Sasuke angrily looked for Itachi. Itachi and Kisame found Naruto at the hotel when Jiraiya was away with the girl who had been hypnotized by Itachi. Sasuke arrived on time, but Itachi was too strong for Sasuke. Itachi beat Sasuke until he was battered. Naruto tried to help, but his chakra was absorbed by Kisame's sword. Naruto was almost cut, fortunately Jiraiya arrived on time. Itachi and Kisame fled because they felt unable to match Jiraiya. Guy arrived a moment later but he was misguided by kicking Jiraiya who was thought to be the enemy. Sasuke who was seriously injured was brought back to Konoha by Guy, while Naruto and Jiraiya continued to search for the third Sannin.

Jiraiya explained to Naruto about the danger of Akatsuki then taught Naruto a new stance which was once one of the 4th Hokage's mainstay moves, the "Rasengan". Naruto painstakingly studied it. Naruto uses his "Kagebunshin" to pull out the Rasengan. The journey continues, Jiraiya and Naruto arrive in a village. Naruto and Jiraiya finally meet Shizune and Tsunade . Naruto who knew Tsunade was the 5th Hokage, Naruto was upset and challenged Tsunade to fight. Tsunade easily broke Naruto's "imperfect" Rasengan attack. Seeing Naruto's determination, Tsunade challenged Naruto to master the move within one week. Naruto initially refused but after being lured by the first Hokage necklace which was expensive, Naruto agreed. Unexpectedly, Kabuto and Orochimaru met Tsunade and negotiated that if Tsunade healed Orochimaru then he would revive Tsunade's sister and boyfriend who had long since died. Tsunade asks for time to think. Jiraiya invites Tsunade to drink then threatens Tsunade if he helps Orochimaru then he will kill Tsunade. Meanwhile, Shizune told Naruto about Tsunade's past and suffering since losing the person he loved. Naruto who heard the story was motivated to complete his stance. Tsunade watched Naruto's practice, then mixed the medicine in Jiraiya's drink. Then he went to see Orochimaru and Kabuto. Orochimaru was almost killed by Tsunade but Kabuto blocked him. Tsunade decided not to help Orochimaru. The fierce battle between Sannin began when Jiraiya arrived. Naruto hit Kabuto with the Rasengan. The fight was even higher when all three Sannins used their animal calling skills. Gamabunta and Manda are involved in a fierce battle. Where is the peak, Manda runs away. Orochimaru and Kabuto fled. Naruto and Tsunade clash again at the restaurant causing both of them to duel again. This time Tsunade did not hit Naruto but gave a gift in the form of a necklace and a kiss on his forehead.

A few days after the great Sannin fight, Naruto had returned to Konoha. Tsunade discussed the issue of surgery to cure Lee due to being hit by a sandbox while fighting Gaara in the Chuunin Exam. The operation was likely to fail, both Guy and Lee were shocked, but Guy still cheered Lee. Finally Tsunade was able to increase the number of chances of successful surgery after studying a lot of medical books in the Hokage library.

After Team 7 completed his mission, Sasuke was hospitalized. He was upset because he felt rivaled by Naruto who was getting stronger. When Sakura and Naruto visited, Sasuke instead challenged Naruto's duel. The fight was quite fierce, until it almost collided with Rasengan and Chidori, fortunately Kakashi appeared and broke the two.

The four ninja sounded by Orochimaru's messenger, namely Tayuya, Sakon, Kidomaru, and Jirobou came to Konoha to pick Sasuke to Orochimaru's place. After Orochimaru was ordered at night, they met Sasuke, there was a battle between Sasuke and Tayuya, Sakon, Kidomaru, and Jirobou. After the fight, they invited Sasuke to leave Konoha. They say about the power that Orochimaru will give, then Sasuke is interested in going away thinking that he must become stronger so he can kill Itachi. They waited for Sasuke outside the village in the evening, Sasuke immediately left Konoha, but before that Sakura intended to convince Sasuke not to leave but failed. The next morning Tsunade soon found out and immediately ordered Shikamaru to get the team to bring Sasuke home. After touring the Konoha team formed, the team consisted of Shikamaru, Chouji , Kiba, Naruto, and Neji, Sasuke's chase began.

The pursuit of Sasuke was not as easy as they imagined. The four Ninja sounds are ready to block Team Shikamaru. They are Orochimaru's subordinates who have great strength and are very strong. And in the end they fight the sound ninja with a life bet. The first fight started by Chouji against Jirobou, which was won by Chouji after he swallowed the last red pill that could turn fat in his fat body into chakra. The next battle was Hyuga Neji's owner, Byakugan, with Kidoumaru. This match was also won by Shikamaru and his friends. After Neji deliberately accepted Kidoumaru's final attack in the form of a golden arrow made of nets that came out of Kidoumaru's mouth, Neji then channeled chakra through the nets to damage Kidoumaru's internal organ tissue. Furthermore, the battle by Shikamaru with Tayuya, and Kiba with Sakon, which Naruto soon fought with Kimimaro, Orochimaru's subordinate who followed Ninja Bunyi's fourth mission, the last descendant of the Kaguya clan who possesses bone abilities that can manipulate bones in his body. But then Naruto was replaced by Rock Lee who suddenly came after the healing process of his spinal surgery. And all the battles were won by the Shikamaru Team after being assisted by three Shinobi from Sunagakure who were none other than Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro. The battle with the sound ninja ended in victory. But Sasuke's pursuit was still carried out by Naruto alone, and the pursuit continued.

In the borders of Hi country, Naruto intends to bring Sasuke back to Konoha but both fight in the Konoha Death Valley, a historic battle between Hashirama Senju (first Hokage) and Madara Uchiha (former Uchiha clan leader). During the battle, Naruto turns into 1-tail mode while Sasuke enters the 2nd Joutai and awakens the level 3 Sharingan, which is finally won by Sasuke after fighting the Rasengan with the Chidori, because Naruto's last attack only scratched Sasuke's headband while Sasuke managed to hit a hard blow on Naruto's chest.

After the incident, Naruto was still determined to fulfill Sakura's lifetime promise to bring Sasuke home to Konoha, although he often felt burdened by failing to gain the trust of his own friend, Sasuke. Jiraiya invited Naruto to wander and practice for 3 years in hopes of strengthening Naruto when Akatsuki moved again. [6]

Two and a half years later, Naruto returned from training with Jiraiya. The criminal organization called Akatsuki, which one of its members was Itachi, began targeting the Jinchuuriki, including Naruto, to take the Bijuu from their bodies. Several ninja from Konoha, including Team 7, fought against Akatsuki members and sought out their partner, Sasuke. Akatsuki manages to capture seven Jinchuuriki who eventually die after the Bijuu retrieval process, except for Gaara, Ichibi's Jinchuuriki whose life is saved by Chiyo's grandmother using a forbidden form by sacrificing her life and being helped by Naruto's chakra. Meanwhile, Sasuke betrays Orochimaru and confronts Itachi for revenge. [7] After Itachi was killed in battle, Sasuke was told by the developer of Akatsuki, who later became chairman after Pain's death, namely Tobi that Itachi was ordered by Konoha officials to eradicate the Uchiha clan to prevent a coup against the leadership of Konoha, [8] but Itachi gave the condition that Sasuke must avoid this problem. Saddened by the statement, Sasuke joined the Akatsuki to kill Konoha officials who ordered the Uchiha clan to be exterminated and to destroy Konoha for revenge. Meanwhile, because several Akatsuki members had been defeated, Pain's controller, Nagato, decided to use Pain to go down to hunt Naruto as well as launch an attack on Konoha for revenge. However, Naruto redeemed it by defeating Pain and awakening Nagato, [9] so Naruto gained admiration from the inhabitants of Konoha.

With the death of Nagato who gave up his life to revive the dead Konoha population, [10] Tobi disguised as Madara Uchiha, announced that he wanted to obtain all of the nine Bijuu, so that those who had not been captured were only two more Bijuu, to carry out powerful illusions to control all humanity. [11] The Kage from five ninja villages refused to help him and collaborated to confront Tobi and his allies. This caused a fourth ninja world war between alliance forces from all ninja villages against Akatsuki. Naruto and Killer Bee refused to hide as the Kage urged. When Naruto appeared on the battlefield, he managed to destroy Tobi's mask which revealed that he was actually Obito Uchiha , Kakashi's former teammate and the person who gave Kakashi the Sharingan eye. On a mission with Team Minato, Kakashi was saved by Obito from the fall of the rock in the cave. Seeing the condition of the stone debris that befell Obito, he was thought to have died and his name was carved as a hero in the village of Konoha, however, there was the fact that he was saved by Madara Uchiha who was old and decided to collaborate with him since Rin's death. After Sasuke learned about Konoha's history from the Hokage, including the circumstances that caused his clan's destruction, he decided to protect the village and rejoin Naruto and Sakura to stop Madara and Obito's plans to use the Juubi. However, after the Juubi is defeated, Madara's body is finally possessed by Kaguya Ōtsutsuki , a ninja ancestral legend who intends to eliminate all humanity, and Obito sacrifices himself to help Team 7 to stop Kaguya. After Kaguya was defeated, Madara also died, but Sasuke decided to take advantage of this situation and control the Bijuu to realize his goal of changing the village system. Naruto confronted Sasuke to stop him, and after they almost killed each other in fierce battles, Sasuke admitted his defeat, even though they were actually drawing. After the war, Kakashi became the sixth Hokage. Then Sasuke was forgiven and he decided to wander which aimed to see the world of ninja he had ignored. [12] A few years later, Kakashi retired and Naruto replaced his position, making Naruto the seventh Hokage.
