Getting an interview is sometimes a difficult goal to achieve, but what is even more important is to succeed!

So I wanted to share with you some tips for you to be at the top of your interview.

First of all, it is very important to tell you that an interview is above all a relational and behavioral test. The first impression is always very important to the recruiter and you will be directly challenged to confirm or deny it.

The recruiter will then base himself on what he would have seen, heard and understood

Seen: it is this first impression based on your pace, your dress, your behavior and this from the first moments of the interview: know that being a candidate is part of a competitive environment. Each candidate should look after their appearance to give themselves more luck to pass the first test.

'' Are you applying for a JAVA Consultant / Developer position? Do not point the day of the interview in casual dress! Avoid sneakers and caps! Girls, avoid the crackle varnish! ''

Heard: what you say throughout the interview is very important. The way of saying it, the flow, the volume and the intonation with which it will be said will make the difference from one candidate to another. The expression of the gaze, the gesture, the sitting, the posture speak to your recruiter and will be the precious elements of the puzzle which is fignole as the progress of the interview.

Understood: it is the synthesis of what is seen, heard and read on the CV. Consistency between what is expressed, what is seen and what is written will facilitate understanding of the profile and allow the recruiter to identify the candidate's key competencies.

To help you better master your interview here is a series of tips:
Be informed about the company (history, areas of activity, technologies on which its teams work ...)
To present you ; avoid reciting your resume. Be brief, present your career quickly. Synthesize your journey to gain the listening of the recruiter.

  • Do not contact your recruiter; Look at it!
  • Present your key skills, not your technical skills.

"The technique is already on the CV, make the difference and mark your recruiter!"

  1. Give figures, talk about your achievements, value your efforts (expose the problematic encountered and advance what you have provided as a solution).

  2. Avoid going into too much technical detail during an HR interview.

  3. Adapt to the style of your recruiter (beware of imitation!)

  4. Listen to the body language of your recruiter.

  5. Be careful with your behavior, do not cut especially your recruiter especially during the presentation.

  6. Take care of the expressions on your face and those of your eyes (avoid the piercing glances that make your recruiter uncomfortable, and even more the fleeting glances that denote a lack of self-confidence).

  7. Avoid monotonous speeches. Create energy.

  8. Avoid repeating yourself.

  9. Prepare at least one relevant question (difficulties of the position to be filled ...)

  10. Avoid saying bad things about someone during an interview (colleague, employer, client, supplier ...)

  11. Try to stand out (be careful of brushing the pretension!)

  12. Do you have an atypical career? Highlight your transversal skills.

  13. In the end, a quick note of thanks after the interview could help you stand out.

I remain convinced that with the speed with which the world of technologies evolves, it would be more judicious to evaluate a candidate on what he could learn and his potential of evolution than to base himself only on his acquired knowledge.

Good luck to everyone !
