The Problem of Linkedin Profiles in Dual Languages in the Spanish Job Markets

in #jobs6 years ago (edited)

The fact that LinkedIn allows you to have your Profile in a second language is an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time. So careful attention need to be given to the following problem at least in the Spaniard Job Market

If you are not bilingual, then you don´t have this problem. But if you are, then the question arises: Which should be the language of my primary profile? and should I eliminate second profile to avoid conflict and improve marketing exposure.

My Theory is that it should be in the Language in which most of the DOS (Disk Operating Systems) or Browser are declared. And it requires no brain at all to conclude that the Spanish Disk Operating Systems are probably, all, declared in Spanish.

But yet, it has to be decided weather or not to push the Profile in English or in Spanish.

The problem lies in that LinkedIn will present default or primary profile to your audience. So you could even force English into the Spanish Speaking audience, since I don´t believe LinkedIn does on the fly translation.

You as Bilingual must decide if you are going to concentrate strictly on the English Speaking Market or be more open to Spanish keywords. I am afraid that most of the Recruiters in the Spanish Market even for bilinguals only use Spanish and hence, logic dictates primary or default profile should be in Spanish for maximum reach.

Not sure about this, what are your thoughts/Inputs on this matter?

Here you have a specific case to be tested out:
