What is JPEG?
It is called a file format that stores images in the JPEG standard. These files usually have a .jpg, .jpe, or .jfif extension, but the .jpg extension is mostly used. The JPEG standard defines only how the image is encoded, not the way the image is stored on any storage medium.
The file format, known as JPEG, is also defined by the JFIF standard of another group, the Independent JPEG Group.
This file format has become the most popular file format for transmitting and storing images over the Internet. The JPEG / JFIF format has a truly successful storage and data transfer structure for the web.
Because the GIF format that does this work is inadequate because it only supports 256 colors. Although the image quality of PNG is better, large images are generated because they cannot optimize the size for the web. This makes JPEG a convenient and preferable format when images are used for the web.
