Everyone has a great affection to their homeland .A deep passion
is always awaken while we think about our land. The former feeling made me write about Kerala, a
Green strip of land, in the south west corner of Indian peninsula.
In Kerala you experience freshness and touch of mother earth
everywhere. No wonder keralites call their State "God's Own Country”. Kerala God's Own Country.
The name Kerala is now widely explained today as the "the land of coconuts", derived from
Malayalam word "kera" which means coconut, a keralite hardly live without coconut products. The regional
Language is Malayalam, whereas official language is English and Hindi. Kerala is very famous for its
backwaters and lakes .tourist rates are increasing day by day fascinated by its greenish beauty. nilgiri
hills, with the famous silent valley treasures the valuable medicinal plants.countless waterfalls also
adds its beauty.onam is the main festival of kerala .

Besides the physical beauty, Kerala has a rich cultural heritage,
which fascinates the tourists a lot. The art and culture of Kerala portrays various dance forms
and martial arts performed with the accompaniment of vocal and instrumental music. All these art
forms are performed during some celebration or festivity. The cultural richness of fascinating
Kerala can be viewed in its beautiful dances, martial arts forms and other performing arts. The
people of Kerala are known for their liveliness and vibrancy and love to celebrate their happiness
in the form of folk dances and music. There are several dance forms in Kerala including Kathakali
and Mohiniattam, which are appreciated all over the world. Other famous dances of Kerala are
Bharathanatyam, Theyyam and Chakyarkoothu.kalaripayattu is an art of fight, so similar to Chinese
Kung fu.

Its climate makes it all time pleasant and beautiful. Kerala has
tropical Climate and remains pleasant for most of the year. The maximum temperature in Kerala
rarely rises above 32 degrees while minimum temperature at sea level does not go below 20 degree
centigrade. The weather is never too chilly in Kerala.

As in the case of rest of South India, majority of the people of
this state is also Dravidians. Hinduism is the principal religion with considerable percentages
of Muslims and Christians. Diverse religious and cultural tradition is reflected in Kerala's
Cuisine. Sea food and coconut are some unique items that you will find in Kerala food. Pounded into
flour, it gives shape to the bamboo formed puttu, the round spongy vattayappam, the lacy edged palappam,
the pancake-like kallappam, the sweet uniappam, the idiappam that looks like fine noodles, and the
stuffed ball called kozhikotta, like a Chinese baozi. Except for the Nambudiris (high caste people)
who are strict vegetarians, Hindus of other castes eat both meat and fish as a matter of course.

The elephants are an integral part of the daily life in Kerala.
They are loved, revered, groomed and given a prestigious place in the state's culture. The elephant
is the state animal of Kerala and is featured on the emblem of the Government of Kerala
Government of Kerala. The thick forest place called thekkadi is a conservation centre for elephants.

Our coastal keralam is having very good trade relations and rich ports
which influence its culture a lot. The old trditions and customs are hardly followed nowadays. still then
all live in its virtuous beauty and love their lovely landscape.
