Merbah or also called cucak-cucakan are tribes of songbirds from Africa and tropical Asia. These birds mostly have melodious sounds and diverse songs,

Medium-sized, these birds are usually medium-bodied rather slim, short necks and long tails. Often a fine shield.

Some species have bright colors: yellow, orange, red, on the chest, abdomen or the whole body. But most are dingy olive brown, grayish or yellowish, with yellow, orange or red on the buttocks. Males and females are of similar color.
