Budget Branding – CH Knives, a Good Start

LuvThemKnives’s video showcases a good example of budget branding done right, well mostly.

CH Knives has created budget-oriented versions of their titanium flipper framelocks, the CH3504, the CH3004, and CH3002 and have named their budget offerings with the same name with the label G10 appended.

These knives are offered in lower grade materials, at much lower price points, while still bearing the same names as their higher end counterparts. My only gripe with these is that they are not 1:1 in terms of dimensions. I can definitely see just by looking at LTK’s video that the grinds are slightly different, and the handle lengths and proportions are different, almost as if these were redesigned before being implemented, rather than simply substituted.
If they were to improve these budget options by making them nearly 1:1 to the originals, I feel they would sell very well.

The fact that they have this as a viable budget option is a step in the right direction, and the likelihood of these being cloned is small. Even the titanium versions are unlikely to be cloned as those are very nicely priced and leave little room for margin.

There is very little known about CH Knives in that they don’t really have an official website and they use social media to promote their products. While this may be a criticism to some, it is advantageous to keep as little overhead as possible and CH Knives has done exactly that to deliver us extremely competitive pricing.
